Well the CBF has gone for it's MOT, and it's a fail!! as it left my driveway I noticed the back brake light didn't work, I bloody checked everything over yesterday, and had a good kip, safe in the knowledge that all was well with the bike only to see this as it left, a bloody brake light switch is a piece to fix/replace, If I'd seen it yesterday I could have swapped it for the Birds or at a push Yvo's hornet, but not ten minutes before the bloody test was due. buggeration !!!

Had a brake light go on my Bird a few years ago.

Had taken my bike to the same tester for about 8 years who said 'You got a spare in your box at home haven't you?' then passed it.

Don't use the same garage now though as the last time he was determined to fail me on something. Couldn't find anything so failed me on a HID dipped beam being 'too blue'.

Took it somewhere else who passed it commenting on how well maintained it looked for a 15 year old (at the time) bike.

I had a really nice Cortina, never had any issues with it whatsoever, quite a desirable well specced car at the time...first buyer turned up and the bloody thing wouldn't start! Turned out for reasons unknown the points had welded themselves shut.

Buyer quite reasonably not impressed and walked away, as I would have.

Changed the points, back to perfection thereafter.

Well, it's back, and as I suspected a fail, plus a few more marks on it where she dropped the fucker!! :( Not too bad though, less than when I drop the bloody Bird, and as usual, no twat stopped to help her pick the bike up, they just drove around her, so I've ordered a new switch and looked at the new additions the bike!! o_O:rolleyes:

Took my car to a garage years ago his assistant wasn't around so I helped MOT my own car. If you were looking to sell a car you took it there but if you were going to buy a car you made sure it hadn't been MOTed there :car:

Really..... I test and that should (imho) have been PRS’d at best. Effectively failing first, bulb replaced at end of test, then passing.

It wasn't the bulb though it was the actual brake switch, and I've got one coming and they are easy to fit, so no biggy!!

He could not fail it on the brake light either Lee.
Regs state 'is a pass providing a minimum of 50% of the light is working.

Aimed at LED ones but still relevant
