Can anyone advise?

I'm going back to the Alps and the Dolomites. I've been before but it was mid-July. This time I'm going from the 10th June-18th June. Are there likely to be many passes open at that time, or any that will be definitely closed?
What are the Dolomites like at that time of year?
Also, whereabouts in Germany is the Nurburgring? Can you come back up from Switzerland/Italy through Austria into Germany, and get to it on your way back to Calais?

Any advice on weather/open & closed passes at that time of year welcome...

Can't wait though...

Cheers
Ben

The 'Ring is in north west Germany, very close to the Belgian border, about 1.5 hours south west of Cologne. Have never done it from Switzerland etc, but I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult.

Getting back to Calais from the 'Ring is simple, but a boring motorway trip that'll take around 4.5 hrs - although it can be done in 3.25 hrs if you have total disregard for any speed limits g0nn3

Can't help with the questions about the passes either, sorry. Have done France in May before, but didn't get too high. I'd guess though that it all depends on the prevailing conditions, and if the continent is having the same spring as we are, then all passes would be open by the time you go!

Have fun out there...

Reminds me of a mate saying the same to me following me on the way to the south of france 2 years ago.. I've never seen or been in such an electrical storm in my life, it was awesome.

And only four weeks before i go touring Europe again.. :p

Most of the Alp passes will be open, they usually open around the first week in June. It depends on the weather and how severe the winter is. I went over the Petite San Bernard around 6th June, but two days earlier it had been shut, that was around 7 years ago and the psses have been opening earlier as the winters seem to get milder.

Not sure about the dolomites but I'd guess they open a bit earlier as most are a bit lower.

I'm planning to go again next year during the first two weeks of June.
