Alarm problems in France

Just thought I'd post this on here, not sure if it's already been said.

Pulled up to get petrol on the autoroute in France. Alarm did it's self arming thing as usual, but when I went to turn it off to go, no response at all, no beeps. Tried the spare fob and nothing either.

Called John, who knew instantly what the problem was. There was a phone mast nearby interfering with alarm. As John said, pushed bike 50 metres away, behind petrol station and it was fine - random!!!

Thanks again, John, for the info... I thought that was my holiday over with straight away!

(Also happened at the hotel the next day - couldn't see a phone mast, but pushed bike behind building and it worked - even more random!!)

Had it too on my mates Sprint when we went to Italy, I'd heard of the problem but had a bugger of a job convincing him that that was the problem.

You were lucky, I ended up pushing his bike about half a mile before the alarm would disarm, on a brighter note he paid for all the beer on that trip :-0)

Save yourself the time and expense, got one on mine (obviously) and it made diddle squat difference to the insurance priemium and when I had to push it with all bells whistles and lights blazing, noody took a scrap of notice.

I agree, waste of time - if I hadn't have bought it with the alarm already on, I wouldn't have bothered...

Try This!

Hi,
Has happenned 3 times on 2 trips to Europe. Usually happens as we pull over to sort out the toll fees directly after the toll barriers in the car park :xm. I have a Datatool and instead of pushing the bike i just lift the seat off and use the fob directly next to the control unit. I guess the radio waves can make the short trip!!!!R#?

This has worked without fail. Hope it works this year...

Cheers
