at last, the clash of the titans, the fight we've been waiting for; I have taken 3 screws, coated in these 3 magic juices and screwed them into my gate post ...... they were coated, screwed in and then re-coated .....

updates every month or so.

Place your bets as to which one(s) rust(s) first .........

Just a thought..
Are you going to screw an untreated one in as well. Just as a control sample?

And what sort of wood is it?

If it's Oak, the wood acids will rust the screws anyway.

Are they North or South facing?

Have the Press been informed, Do the tree huggers know you are abusing trees..
The problems are endless.

Come on Murt get your eyes working, it is obviously a form of coniferious wood as can be seen just by looking at the grain pattern. I do agree that there will be inconsistancies caused by the crack in the wood above the screw coated in 3in1. This will obviously collect water around the screw in the early days of ther test, however that screw is also placed in a section of wood just below a knot hole, that type of wood has a much higher resin content which is likely oose out of the wood then run into the hole and seal it! So as the screw is coated on 3in1 oil, screwed into wood (scraping the 3in1 off), imersed in rain water which is then incapsulated by the resin in the wood in that area, I would imagine that will be the screw to rust through first.I do hope that Carlos2000 has good public liability insurance though, he has left 3 screws sticking out of a gate that could cause injury, or damage to clothing for anybody walking past. Even if no injury or damage is caused you could get a nasty stain on your clothes coz some twat has been spraying oil around.

Not a fair test

The ACF is not the real stuff. It's sub-standard, designed to be sold to foreign johnnies who wouldn't know the difference!

We'll also see how good the screws plating is, should have been un-plated screws as we've had the plated screw test before.
