Hi all.

just a word about the weekend that we know and love as 'The Tal-y-Lin run'

Friday evening to Brimfield to Shrops new home, various beds allocated, couple of beers and to the pub for food. Thanks to the landlord of the Roebuck Inn, he provided us with our own room and bar so that was a good start. The food was top dollar, fish pie I can recomend to anyone, superb. Db turned up unexpected to say hello, that man is a star and a quick call to CB, bless her cotton socks and he had an all night pass out. Back to Mark and Lorna's and see if this was another magic fridge, but alas it was only an imposter, once empty it stayed empty. 23.30hrs and Taffy and Ros arrived from deepest Cornwall, another marathon ride by them and if there were an award for miles done traveling to meetings they would have it in the bag.

Saturday morning and the sun was out. Out preyers to the sun god had been answered. Rob, Quiney & Mrs Quiney, Buzz, fatbert, Pete the greek, Jon & Anya, Roxxy & Carol, Craig (video bike) Shrops & Lorna, Dave & Fiona, Taffy & Ros and another Rob and Mrs Rob all assembled and away into Wales. Great run to crossgates, a couple of us found some nice roads not run before, tell you later about that - toot-toot.
Left Cross gates for the best bit, just started he serious stuff and we come across another bike on our road. Oh look, its plod. He must have checked his mirror and thought I'll have this lot. He had at this point 11 BB's up his arse gagging to get on with it and he didint dissapoint. That gentleman of the law gave his ST the berries, on some corners he was almost grinding it away and up to 95 mph on the short straights and corner speed he isnt alowed to use, he really had no inention of slowing us up, he earned my respect on that day at least. At Newtown he went for a lie down and we carried on to the lake for dinner. We met Bezzer from Ixxra at The lunch stop although not sure what happened to him after. Fed and watered we head to the coast, stopping in Abudabi for Icecream and allow time for Pete the Greek to chat up most of the over 60 female population.
From the coast it was back to Newtown again abuseing welsh tarmac, quick coffee at Mac-Y-Dees and goodbye to Quiney. Then homeward to Penkridge and Saturday evening entertainment at the local pub.
This bit is not usuall/normal or expected. After the pub we had the first viewing of simzies bash video, what a laugh, and at 24.00hrs no one wanted more beer or wine so we all went to bed.
Strange but true.

Sunday, 12 BB's assembled in Penkridge, a big welcome to Riktus, the mad weed smoker from Wolverhampton on his first run with us. Away we went into Derbyshire, Pete taking point at Abbots Bromley, though it should have been Uttoxeter, my fault, and away to Matlock bike shop via some cool roads. food and drink was had and then away to the good stuff, 20 bikes, 16 BB's, awesome sight, and the Cat & fiddle was run twice just incase your eyes were closed the first time and then back toward Derdy and FB's home via some bostin twisty and lumpy roads.. One that I remember, tight left hander, opening up, power on in 3rd, 7000 rpm over a rise and phook, no steering, front wheel makes contact with the floor glance in the mirror and Doc Savage is at 45 deg coming over the rise, wish I had a pic of that.
Back to FB's for 16.30, loads of drinks and all peeps are well knackered. 17.00'ish we start to split for home most are only an hour or two from home and a hot bath. At this point spare a thought for Taffy and Ros who have a 5 hr ride in front of them, again, the effort they put into to Bird and the Midland Massif is above and beyond the call of duty. Respect to you both

Respect time;

Mark and Lorna for the Friday night and Saturday rideout, A1 again, thanks.

Anya; for sorting out everything at the Penkridge end, don't know what I would do without you :k

Fatbet and Pete; great route on Sunday and providing high speed guides for Doc to play with.

Mrs Bert aka Jane, for the refreshments for 30+ people at a moments nottice.

And last but not least, you lot for making a good rideout weekend a brilliant weekend Thanks to you all

So peeps, what did you think of it ?? and will you be there next year ??

Here is to the Whippet and Clogs, I can speak from experience some of the roads that will be abused in North Yorks are excellent.

Come on the Massif, make a date with Clive.

Minor Amendments~~!!

24.00hrs no one wanted more beer or wine so we all went to bed.
.

All seperately you understand!!!!!!

I was in the Bridge Hotel - [by myself!!]

Dropped off to sleep thinking "what an excellent day out"

02.00 in the morning all hell broke loose in my bedroom - what the Phook was all that lot????

My new leathers had dropped off the coat hanger - hit the waste bin which in turn knocked over the tea/coffee/ketle tray making a right noisy racket in the process.

Not the best way to wake up!!!!

and let's not forget~~

Chunkey Monkey - for leading the "intermediates" on the Cat and Fiddle

Also Shaun on the R1 for taking the fast boys out - albeit that some of the Birds backed away when they saw Shaun ride - even Doc Savage said "phew not me ! " Respect to Rhino who tried to give him a run for his money

Sight of the Sunday has to be Shaun "coasting" past me at 90mph NOT in the Riders Seat!!

I looked across and his bike was there with no-body riding it!!

He was sat on the pillion - arms folded - laughing at me!!!

Bastid!!!

Apologies to the 12 riders waiting at Chunkey's house for us all to arrive [late!!]

A Brillant Day

Although me and ste could not make it to wales, we did manage to meet up with everyone at matlock.

It was a great afternoon. mind you only got one run down the Cat and fiddle, as we had to depart to fetch the kids, We would just like to say thanks to everyone for making both of us feel really welcome, as it was our 1st major BB ride out, and it goes without saying that we are definately looking forward to the next BB ride out

You never known we might even be able to find some kind hearted sole, that would be willing to take in 4 kids for the weekend, Ha! Ha! Know anyone?:}

Thanks for a great afternoon

cheers

von and ste

Ps John and Anya you don`t happen to have a spare aunty lying around do you:} :} :}

My thanks go to all you patient Bird Riders and partners ...waiting for Bert is a real pain at times......
Even cyclops caught shaun and myself on the "mini snake pass" ( one of the Greeks fellas names for a twisty road)......it`s senior years you know:} Cyclops had the unfair advantage of an empty colostomy bag , cos he`d just drained it at the Cat & Fiddle...lol

On a serious note, it was my first time meeting nearly all of you, thank you for you warm welcome.

Lets get it on for the next ride.....

ps...Mrs Titan IS the boss FULL respect:neenaw:

A Weekend to Remember ....

What a brilliant time me and Taffy had ( again :} )

After a 454 mile round business trip on Friday, I arrived back in Cornwall with Mr Taffy waiting patiently for my return and our departure to deepest Shropshire.

At 7.15pm we set off with the sun setting to our left and arrived at Shropslads new abode, where no sooner had I removed my rear end from the back of the bird, Lorna was there, with a welcoming glass of wine (wouldn't expect anything less there LOL)

Mark and Lorna gave up their bed, DB provided his usual entertainment and it was up early Saturday for the arrival of some old friends and some new (in particular Dave and Fiona - great to meet you and look forward to seeing you on future rideouts)

I fine day was had by all, great company, brilliant weather and superb biking roads. We eventually made our weary way back to mein hosts for Saturday night, the ever welcoming Jon and Anya. Here, Taffy had his first taste of camping :lick: on Jon and Anyas back lawn, with all luxurys provided. I am happy to say that he did not say never again when we got up the next day, so, look out Bash campers next year, you could have to make room for another tent (quite a bit of room, cos Taffy will be sleeping in it LOL)

Another early rise and another great day of sunshine and superb riding. After welcome refreshments courtesy of Mrs Fat Bert, we toddled off home, down M1/M42 and M5. Negotiated a 10 mile, three lane tail back just North of Strensham services, which took us 20 mins, weaving in and out the traffic (felt sorry for those in their cages, some had started to take camp on the road side :h )

As usual, got into the West Country , Taunton, about 9pm and yes, you guessed it - RAIN. Wet weather gear and another two and a half hours, we eventually pulled up outside home, slightly damp on the outside, aching and tired but, wouldn't have missed that weekend for the world !!!

Thanks as usual to Mark and Lorna, Jon and Anya for your hospitality and friendship and thanks to all the other Bird members who shared the experience and made it what it was.

Look forward to seeing you all at the next one (Unfortunately, not the Clogs and Whippet run as even our seasoned bums won't last out for that !!)

Congrats to all

who made it a fantastic weekend.
Taffy & Ros certainly deserve the "iron Butt" award.
We did a total of 748 miles over the weekend and Sunday evening at home my head was ringing and the palms of my hands were painful, so goodness knows how Taffy & Ros felt.
I have never ridden the Blackbird so hard for so long.
Mark & Lorna and Jon & Anya were the perfect hosts and Jane deserves a medal for putting up with so many of us lounging around on the lawn and driveway at FB's and serving us tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits.
It really is amazing how many friends we now have, brought about through a common interest.
Thank you everybody.
