Did anyone see the news last night where a biker was given 7 years for hitting and killing a woman?.

It was at Bassetts Pole last summer when this idiot was doing knee slides in front of a crowd, lost it and ploughed into the crowd, injured several and killed one. I was there but left just a few minutes before it happend

Turns out he had no license, no insurance and was on bail for similar offences.

In my opinion he's got what he deserved, lets hope it dosent tarnish the name of biking and kill off the meet which thousands attend each Tuesday.

Why only 7 ?

Somebody lost their life.

He shouldn't have been on the road.

Previous form.

Toooo lenient !

At the risk of a flamming, I thought 7 years was a bit harsh. When you read the case, ok he had no tax, insurance, etc etc but he did turn himself in and pleaded guilty. Unlike Footballer, Lee Hughes got killed another driver with his 100k merc, fled the scene and hid for 36 hours BEFORE handing himself in, THEN pleads not gulity!

Too harsh ..... I wonder if the dead womans family would agree with you. Or would you if it was your other half that was killed by this idiot ?

I know the point you are making but would suggest the footballers sentence was too lenient rather than this was too harsh.

Yes, the footballers was to soft a punishment. .... ...

The bikers, some people mite think was also too soft .........

I for one like to "PLAY" when the time is right yet I have also seen a biker throw himself and his Arse 1 down the road at a bike meet ( avebury) and after a quick check that he wasnt to hurt NO ONE helped him any further. Luckily he didnt hit anyone else .

Seven years!!

He should have got life IMHO, no excuses, every responsible biker that goes to the Pole knows that the road surface there is worn out.

It's not the first time a bike has been binned there as most of us who attend meets there regularly know, "happened the previous year as well" don't think anyone other than the rider was hurt that time.

No insurance then, so who pays compensation then for the loss of a wife and mother? Don't suppose the government will!

No piont sueing the rider I suppose, he won't be able to pay on prison wages.

We were there too on the night and it was manic, it was bound to happen we couldn't get out onto the dual carriageway for folk standing in the nearside lane, we had to go almost blindly into the outside lane to get on the road.

When we left we went a different way to try and avoid being run down by some prats that were doing wheelies.

Before anyone starts yes! I can wheelie the Bird and the Trophy but I never do it intentionally in front of a crowd.

Hear hear

Agree with everything you say Trophychap. Guy was a plonker, no thats too kind he is an idiot. We can all 'lose it' but showing off in front of a crowd is bad enough but when you patently dont have the skill it is and has proved, the actions of a brainless moron. It wasn't an 'accident' I think it was lenient.

I missed it that week but have been and seen wot happens and whilst I agree with all the above I think some blame must go to the people who got hit. Anyone who stands there is asking for it. Not only are they egging the riders on to do more but they are standing on a bend by a section of poor quality road with hundreds of people behind them stopping them from getting away in the event of an accident.
However I think that the worst culprits in this are the police. Three miles down the road is Hams Hall, its a trading estate and Power station. For ages when the place closed for the evening on bike night at Bassets Pole, the guys who wanted to pull stunts went down there. It has sections with Armco that you can stand behind, its much wider than the "pole" and not crowded, yet Plod in all its wisdom has forced the riders away from there by constant raids and putting cameras on it and guess where they all went back to. One week that I was at the "pole" I heard the police radio call for everyone to go down to Hams Hall EVERY SINGLE POLICEMAN WENT to sort out about 20 riders. Leaving thousands of bikers and families at the "pole" within a few mins things started getting well dodgey on the bends coz of there being no police presence.
As far as I am concerned the rider was a total prat and should have known better, but to stand there on that bend was just as bad and as stupid as playing Russian Roulett!

As tragic as it is, it's not like the woman was a passer by, she was stood in a crowd with the express purpose of watching people ride like tw@ts. If people put themselves in the firing line, every now and then someone is going to get shot.

Yes it is tragic but I wholeheartedly agree with a seven year sentence. It seems harsh to some maybe but it is about time that some of these judges/magistrates got their acts together and started to dole out a decent term in the pokey.
I get far too frustrated with scrotes who get away with community service and suspended sentences all too often.
Biker or not I have absolutely no sympathy for this person..........
