okay...
purchased and fitted the 6mm spacer on my bird...

the only thing is that when the bike is now on the centre stand with the spacer fitted, the rear wheel now makes contact with the ground...

screwd the shock bolt as tight as it goes...

any idea's...is this a bad sign?

quite normal mate, dont worry about it w;;v

good looking AND modest
it's as near normal, stick a bit of wood under the centre stand in future to lift it just that little bit!! your wheel will go up by the same amount/thickness of the wood!! :dunno:

they do lower the rear when on the centre stand and they are fitted so this is very normal so don't worry.

The next sensation you will have is the front feeling like a shopping trolley.. i.e. ffs this reacts far to quick, so don't worry on that either.

It is an odd mod that gives excellent results.. sharper to turn, lighter to turn and all for a few quid...shabba

false alarm chaps...

helps IF i put the centre stand down ON A FLAT BIT OF ROAD...

petrol stations and very flat laybays no problems...
but anythuing more and the rear wear does make contact,...

thats great chaps...
the mind is now at rest...

did 20 miles so far with the spacer on...
what a differernce....

can go into and round corners about 15mph quicker...and thats not pushing...

great wee mod there for ?6!!!

thanks all...

PS. it took me and 2 others to get the spacer attatched...deff not a one man job anyways!

3 men!!!! what have you done??? done mine in under 5 mins,

my driveway is on a slope and hill...so rear tire firmly on th ground at this stage...

so..
bike on centre stand...
2 men either side of the bike lifting the bike up off the ground...(a bit)
this increased the gap to slide the spacer in which my mum then kindly done (small hands r handy)

prob could of sone it a lot easier IF was on a flat bit of ground... c7u8

:lick:
its not about the result...its about the journey g0nn3

My garage base is 20mm higher than the drive, just stick the arse end out of the garage.
I never thought of a piece of wood before getting the extra 20mm laid:tosser:

I heard that Mr Rossi regrets not having a spacer fitted to his Yam last weekend as he would undoubtedly have won if he had. He has had Mr Burgess send an order to JAWS to arrive before the next race.

I did drop the forks through the yokes in the ER and it made squat all difference, so I have tried it:lol:

On the matter of commenting on bikes I actually ride, I expect I know a lot more than most on here despite apparently not owning or riding one.

I must assume you are only pretending to be a knob, but it has me fooled.

I challenge you to a race if your up for it. My bike against yours but I choose the venue. I assume you would give the ER a bikes length head start such is your confidence? Or even a quiz about Blackbird, I'm sure John or Pete would set the questions, then we would see who knows more?

What d'ya reckon?

Jeez, I can hear the backpedalling from here:lol:

Bin thinkin of getting one of them thar 'spacer' thingies knocked up at work - only problems are...

1. I ain't got any dimensions (apart from they're 6mm thick)

2. How the / where the hell do you put them (on the rear shocker is a bit too vague for me)

Answers on a postcard please

even with the instructions that came with the spacer i found it hard to follow until something clicked and i understood them allof a sudden...

its a piece of light metal alloy thats 6mm thick...
its about 2.5cm x 4 cm (i think...lol)
its in the shape of a straight edge "u" shape...

the piece of metal is inserted...
between the very top of the rear preload/shock...(the very very top)
and
the under side of the frame bike frame...

the top of the bike frame has the bolt and is what holds the rear shock in place...this bolt must be untighted far enough to allow you to slide the piece of metal in..once done..u tighten up the bolt...

(obviously the bike has to be on its centre stand and the petrol tank has to unbolted and raised to allow you access to undo the shock bolt AND to allow u access to slip the spacer in....

Who knows about what? ffs lumpy you dont alf talk a loada b*lloxs, in fact make that a full load.

So you have read a book or a magazine but don't own one,or ride one on that basis Steven Fuck*n Hawkins must know more than jaws? ya daft c*nt.

For some one who knows so much about the bird you may be a bit confused. A 6 mm spacer goes on the back and dropping the forks happens at the front.... of course they are the same... do you really read what you type before ya post ya bellend?

Knowing a lot more than most??? most anoraks who don't actually do the subject normally do mr bill gates . I know your a twat but I've never met you does that mean I am right?

Race? ffs is it next my dad is bigger than your dad next? what planet are you on half wit? actually that may be a quarter too much.

Lumpy your a anorak with a vile tongue, a massochistic sense of humour who enjoys stirring and apart from that it's no wonder why you have to come in here behind a screen, I would sugest most people find you to vile to tolerate in the real world.

Like I said anoraks know stuff, people who ride birds know from experience.

Now peddle up ya own backside your village is calling you
