911?? Lucky chap :-0)
I totally agree - my S80 came with a spare set of brand new alloys and winter tyres - must have been ?2k worth - for winter use (car was used by the MD of Volvo UK and has every bit of kit imaginable:-0)) and I haven''t fitted them in 6 years of ownership. simply can't be arsed, particularly as the time you want the winter tyres on is exactly when you don't want to be arsing about. Hence the desire for a cheap 4WD.
All being well I am going to view a Rav 4 on Sunday - 96k miles, 16 years old, new MOT, looks nice in photos and owner says 'no faults, just a few minor marks on the bodywork'.
?795 Seems a tad on the 'too good to be true' side, but he is way out in the sticks so maybe ... you never know.
Funny thing at this end of the market - I am almost tempted to buy one of the many terrible colours these things come in:-0). If I were tempted by an L200, there is an awesome one on EBaY that has been painted in red primer - looks the absolute swingers@tu*
L200 - Wouldnt pull mi granny out of bed, well maybe once but would need a new clutch
i have a 96 vauxhall frontera,stop laughing ! paid ?500 with 2 sets of wheels 12mths mot.
i race mx bikes and take it on a trailer on to very muddy fields, never failed to get off and towed plenty of vans off too.
bad ones are really bad but the good ones are great, cheap and cheerful,go anywhere and definietely no image probs. cheers.8rfl@
Mate of mine has an L200, the slowest sluggish under powered piece of shit I've ever had the mis-fortune to be in.
Two reasons I wouldn't buy an L200
- not apprpriate for what I have in mind - read the first post
Lucky you[*]I've been in one
Do you really think many people in Kent will know who I am?[*]and, thirdly (??) people might think I am Derek Kelly
Looks like it's going to be a Rav 4,Vitara or Pinin
So what does a difff lock do and is it worth having??
the auto box has an electronic diff lock, on the dash. Not quite the same as the manual. It's perm 4WD, you'll not need it. Just get some decent tyres (not road tyres), makes a world of difference. New oil & filter when you buy it, job done. Jumping out of 2nd gear at 150k miles is something I see mentioned a lot on the manual version.Narrowed it down to an ancient Rav4. Tough as old boots, seem to go on forever, just need to be wary of clutch and jumping out of gear. Which seems to make an auto the one to go for, although at this end of the market beggars can't be choosers. Black one for sale just up the road from me for ?900, Looks OK, P reg new MOT 133k miles, and only only two dents. If it's still for sale when I get back from Paris I'll see if I can blag it for 5 or 6 hundred.
