2000 or 2001

how can i tell the difference?????
anybody know how to tell the difference between a 2000 model year and a 2001 model year?:h

Look For.........

A white sticky label under the seat on one of the frame rails. That gives the model and year of manufacture.

Alternatively......get a look at the registration document (V5)..... the date of first registration will be in there.

Also.....if you can get the frame or engine number, Honda keeps a database of build dates....a phone call to the head office will confirm it.

The first part of the frame numbers are the give away ...
A 2000 starts:
JH2SC35A-YM3*****
While a 2001 starts:
JH2SC35A-1M4*****
Where the stars are the rest of the numbers

Look at the frame number....and the second part of the number gives you the year of manufacture !!!!!:blush: :blush:

looks like i have a dealer trying to fleece me into buying a 2000 model then.(its on a 51 plate, and he is swearing blind its a 2001). Took it for a test ride yesterday, v.nice, but too much money if its the 2000. black, one owner, all the paperwork, 9000 miles for 6k, but it looks like i wont be buying it now!!!! not for that money.

why not

have it anyway, just dont pay the price he's asking, knock him down, use his own lies to trip him up,
or if you decide not to have it, grass him to the trading standards, for misrepresenting the year and value of the bike, ie lying,:dunno:

it may stop him conning someone else,
