Just seen the Baltimore bridge collapsing after being struck by a boat, how quickly & easily did that fall? Hope there’s no fatalities or injuries.
They weren't pedestrians in the true sense of the word, not at 0130 hours. They were workmen fixing pot holes.Baltimore Key Bridge falls into river with pedestrians after being hit by large ship
The huge Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed into the Patapsco River in Baltimore after the Singapore vessel Dali crashed into it in the early hours of Tuesday morningwww.independent.co.uk
I hear what you are saying, but this footage seems to suggest that it was under power at the time of the collision and appears to steer directly into the bridge. They weren't pedestrians in the true sense of the word, not at 0130 hours. They were workmen fixing pot holes.
If I were a gambling man, which I'm not, I'd guess the most likely cause is a loss of power to the propulsion and/or steering.
That's what's being reported now! They weren't pedestrians in the true sense of the word, not at 0130 hours. They were workmen fixing pot holes.

Currents probably, maybe tidal.Weird that it loses power and then turns straight for one of the bridge supports....
I don't have any evidence, only the videos circulating in the media.I hear what you are saying, but this footage seems to suggest that it was under power at the time of the collision and appears to steer directly into the bridge.
Thoughts?
She was already turning to starboard when power was lost.Weird that it loses power and then turns straight for one of the bridge supports....
No. See above.Currents probably, maybe tidal.
Two screws wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference. Loss of power means exactly that, loss of power.Maybe it was hacked by terrorists? Or the fact it only has one screw for propulsion didn’t help when it had a temporary power outage?
I believe you have been warned previously about reporting facts on here.I don't have any evidence, only the videos circulating in the media.
First time I've seen this video. The lights are seen to go out, which indicates a black out. The black smoke from the stack shortly before the impact suggests power was restored; might be the emergency genny but I think it more likely that it was the main engine because there seems to be too much smoke for an emergency genny.
She can be seen to be turning to starboard just before the lights go off for the first time, so clearly starboard helm was on. Power goes off, so there's no way to return the helm to midships or apply counter to port other than emergency steering. Not a chance in the time available when that close to the bridge. As the rudder was already off to starboard, the likelihood was that her momentum would keep her turning in that direction.
Power was restored approximately 15 seconds before she hit the bridge. No way, as in no way, were they going to recover her when she had a rate of turn like that.
She was already turning to starboard when power was lost.
No. See above.

Damn. Soz, my bad. Although, in my defence, they're not entirely facts; it's only what I can see based on a single, low res video. Therefore, I beg forgiveness on this occasion.I believe you have been warned previously about reporting facts on here.
Three strikes and you are out.
By another armchair expert, no doubt. Don't believe everything you hear.I was told that they dropped the anchor which might have affected direction.
Don't know where that info would have come from.
Probably someone spreading rumours on the internet.I was told that they dropped the anchor which might have affected direction.

Noooooooo! Never!Probably someone spreading rumours on the internet.
