Whippets & Clogs 2005

This year Whippets & Clogs Ride-out with be on

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th July 2005


Day 1 Starting at Skipton, running up through the Dales, North Yorkshire Moors, Keilder Forest and finishing at Berwick-upon-Tweed for an overnight stop.

Day 2 Berwick-upon-Tweed, down the Northumberland coast, crossing inland towards Alston, then more of Yorkshires finest roads back to Skipton.

Please indicate your interest, stating whether you are doing Saturday, Sunday or both.

If you are coming on the ride and wish us to book accommadation for you, we need to know as soon as possible. Our aim is to get everyone staying close together. Provisional bookings for accommadation need to be in by mid-February, with confirmation and deposits paid by April. We're once again looking at good B&B's (but remenber Morecambe!)

Accommodation details


Berwick upon Tweed is a small(ish) place, coupled with it being in the height of the holiday season, so there is not a tremendous choice available.

Another issue is secure parking. Majority of parking is street parking after 5pm OR pay and display car-parks.

We have managed to find a hotel (the only one) that can accommodate everyone, with en-suite facilities and has secure parking in a locked court-yard , for up to 20 bikes.
The only proviso is that they will only do dinner, bed & breakfast.

As it is a group booking we have negotiated a fixed rate of ?54.50 per person for dinner, bed & breakfast.

(The actual out of season room rate is ?109 per room per night, without any evening meal. We are going in high season, getting an evening meal and secure parking)

The Kings Arms Hotel, Berwick

Although it?s a little above what we would normally pay, the limited availability in Berwick, and the logistics of keeping together, a group of people this size, i.e. rooms, parking, somewhere to eat, justifies this cost.
However, we don?t want to put anyone off attending because of cost, so if you are not agreeable with the price, please PM/email us and we will send you a list of small B&B?s.
If we don?t get a PM and you have requested accommodation, then we will assume that you are in agreement with the above price.

The teenager sets off for his RAF cadets Summer camp that Saturday morning. If we can't be at Skipton for the start I/we should be able to catch up somewhere along the route.

Also for now leave me off the accommodation list as we'll probably find our own.
