Weston Beach BBQ rideout 2008

Hi Guys,

Well its that time of year again for my weston Beach BBQ rideout. The date will be June 21st - The longest day, obviously depending on weather (if its bad we'll move it into July).

Nice simple rideout this year. I'll post a route in the next few days. Plan is to all meet for an early lunch at an out of town pub, either near Bath or Wells (suggestions? :dunno and then take a nice but relatively direct route to Wookey Hole, have a look round The cave and then continue on our way to weston to get there about 7pm to set up a BBQ and a nice big fire on the beach watching the sun go down.

We'll probably stay there entertaining ourselves and cooking some food (bring your own) until its good and dark when we'll probably have a bit of a fast one home on the M5 (no traffic, no cops..perfect!! ) but if enough people want to, theres the option to camp nearby or get a taxi back to B&B's in Weston which has loads of them.

All bikers are welcome so bring your mates.

If you're taking a nice route to the pub you might post where you're leaving from & which way you're going so others can rendevouz with you if they want to.

After meeting up with some of you last year there, the pub I was thinking of is the Boathouse by the river on the A4, south west side of Bath (bear in mind Google puts it in the wrong place by a few hundred metres, its on New bridge road/A4 right by the river) . Thinking of meeting at 12pm.

Tan and I will probably leave Burford at 10.30am and go on the awsome Cirencester, Tetbury, chipping sodbury road to Bath. Others are welcome to join us.

Blade, ice cream is the staple diet at WSM!!!

Ice cream stop at Wooky Hole I imagine if we get there in time (they close at about 4pm I believe). Dont know where you'll get it in the middle of the night on Sand bay :dunno: c7u8




oh! and Yeah, Kids are welcome, we've had them there before.









....they were very tasty although with a bbq they did tend to go a bit crispy on the outside.

PS yep sand Bays better than WSM beach as it has sand dunes and less mud

...Maybe it is going to be a brokeback (or as I like to call it "break bot mounting" :-0) ) moment after all??

Good to see we've got some interest..could turn out to be a bit of a rockin time!! :yo:


Meanwhile, I Looked into camping for those interested (one guy from the VFR site is coming down from Scarborough!!):

Just rang them and for 1 night they dont take advanced bookings so you would have to ring them quite near the time. However they have an outdoor heated pool, bar and "luxurious" shower and bathroom facilities.

It sounds so good it might tempt me into camping :-0)

Price would be ?17 but I assume thats per pitch so for people sharing it makes it a bit cheaper. Its at the other end of the beach so probably a good 5 minute walk or so but that will soon pass if youre pissed!

Absolutely, we even have electric light in Somerset now. If you're expecting to still see bathing machines wheeled down to the sea then you are going to be dissapointed though!!

Ignore anyone who still howls at the moon though, there are still a few of them around.

Hmmm weathers not looking great at the moment..sunny right up till saturday and then getting better after the weekend...bastards!!!

Will keep an eye on it and make a decision tomorrow evening (Friday).

If its a no no then we'll just have to re-schedule (do I have a spare weekend before the wedding???? :dunno: )

Cheers guys,

Gonna cancel for this weekend as the weather doesnt look great for a BBQ and i also have to get to Reading at 9am to have a mortgage appointment. I could have gone to Oxford on Monday but I'm worried the super deal i have found will disappear very soon. and we're on the edge of our budget already

So we'll re-arrange it very soon...Just gotta see how many weekends i need for moving into our first house and for sorting out the wedding next month....eeek!!
