once the reg rec is changed it will last forever assuming the uprated one is fitted. Injected shit, look for the loom fix as if it hasn't been done it will need to. Avoid red bikes as they look shit. Otherwise no real issues. Only problem is keeping licences

Be careful of the big hole in the power delivery of Carb'd bikes that the turbine smooth EFI doesn't have. The loom problem is easy to fix. The hole in the power delivery isn't. p0pc0rn41

Clueless in most things
I've had carb and injections (pre cat/digi dash) and whilst the carbie is slightly better I feel, it's never stopped me buying an injection.

Away from the top trumps cock size forum arguments, both in the real world are very good bikes.

What bike specific problems there are for the bird and there are very few, are well known and relatively easy and cheap to fix.

When I've bought birds a good advert catches my attention, the extras shows more about the owner than the bike and talking to them normally shows if they are a bird owner or just a bike rider.

Beyond that the rules are the same as they are for any bike.

What hole in the power delivery ? :dunno:

I keep hearing this about carb birds & it simply isnt there on either of the other carbed birds I have ridden or on my own bike :dunno:

Bear in mind that the majority of expert posters on here are ec GP riders who have the ability to wring every last drop of performance out of a Bird or indeed every bike on the planet......8rfl@

On a carb Bird you can see the flat spot on a dyno print but in the real world on real roads it is not noticeable. Pretty much every car on the road has a similar flat spot for emissions testing and I bet that is largely unnoticed, even by ex GP riders..........

By the way, Birds are a buyers market, tons out there and no need to pay silly prices. A good solid bike with some miles on it is a sensible buy at sub ?2k. It would be interesting to know what an unused still in the crate 06 in Iron Nail would fetch...... Probably not as much as some would like to think;-0))
