Hi has anyone had any probs with the Bridgestone Bt020's?

I have been a great supporter of the battleaxe for ages but just do not like these tyres at all........... the bike had a set of Dunlops 207's on and they were exellent pity they were gubbed.

Many thanks for ones thoughts on the ol' tyre issue.

try avons?? Most seem to like them? I didn't know enough about hte bike when I had 020's on it to judge them, but then tried continentals which were amazingly awful! Then on to Avon Azaros!! :yo: :yo: :k

My experience of BT020's is that they were excellent unless the bike was moving!!

Mine were the 'Bird specific' Bridgestones which were put on in emergency when i wrecked a rear. OK to start with but they squared off in no time at all and developed a big ridge down the centre - presumably a 'dual compound'? I honestly thought the head bearings were shot they were that bad after only a couple of thousand miles. They were lobbed when only half worn.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!!sh1tehppns

My Bird came with part worn 207s but the last two sets I have gone for Avon Azaros and they have been excellent in both wet and dry and last well.

Bell Tyres do a good deal on these (tap into the search engine on either the 'help' or 'cofee shop' sections and you will find details. Also some members supply tyres and might be worth a shout if you are local to them.

Loads of threads on this site about tyres; Avons seem to be the weapon of choice and they have just brought out the Storm which some posters are now running.

Bought my BB new in December and it came fitted with Bridgestone BT57's. I thought these had been discontinued and replaced by the 020?

I have just, well a hundred miles ago, put on the 020 replacement, 021's, So far I am impressed - got them down to 10mm chicken strips within 60 miles. Anyway I'll keep you posted on how I get on with them as it's early days!!

you might be lucky!! a nice man at the honda place in Yeovil told me that 020's don't square off if you use the whole tyre!!!!!!! :}:}:} how to upset a customer you haven't met in one statement!! Although I think it might have been the 'dear' he added at the end of the statement that really got me!!! :}:}

Strange the 020's . I always swore by them on my previous birds but recently I had a loan vfr 800 vtec(what a pile of sh*e) I found the 020's fitted on them gave no confidence, very twitchy and even when pushing it I would always back off through lack of confidence in the tyre.

May have been a bad set but might make other tyres now a consideration

A man should always feel safe with the rubber he uses R#?

I always found 020's ok on a few bikes I've owned, but only when they're relatively new and not out of shape - certainly enough grip/confidence to drag hard parts (intentionally!). I've also never worn a set out simply because once half worn they display very strange wear patterns which badly affects the bike's handling. The 020's an old tyre now, and it shows when put up against more modern stuff.

I've long been a fan of the Azaro tyres on other bikes (even the old AV35/36 Azaro) in the dry but they could be downright nasty in the wet. However, I do believe there's a real synergy between them and the Bird - the tyres feel great, whatever the weather.

Have just fitted a pair of Storms yesterday so will report back how they go (they certainly look rather fab which is also vitally important) :yo:

My newly aqquired bird has got 207's and they are twitchier than dave blunkett at a dna test.

Jaws reccomended avon storms, although I have mostly had 020's in the past.

If I was to order a new set of avon storms are they any good and is it avon storms or avon storms st?

Dufus - the new Avons are just called Storm ST.

Just had a pair fitted to my bike - they're fab-dooda-tastic.

I've Pirreli Diablos on my bike and they are pretty good.

I've done 2000 miles on them and they are only just starting to square off. I did tour europe last year on them, doing mostly motorways. So I guess that's not too bad.
