I engaged a local general do everything company to sort out removing a recessed cupboard in an internal wall, and sort the whole wall making it smooth and ready for paint. They don't have a plasterer on their team but said they can sort one, he charges 180 a day whether he is onsite one hour or eight plus materials, great says I, the local guys turn up and strip the wall back to brick or rather stone. Plasterer turns up three days late, twat, him and his mate are done in three hours. Plasterer submits his bill 170 a day plus vat plus 70 for materials, plus 170 plus vat for his mate. So I'm loathed to pay 408 quid for labour for three hours work each. Local guys never mentioned two plasterers so what is the consensus on here?

Shame, it would have made it clear what had been agreed to.

However, I'd still take the view that you were expecting "a plasterer" not two.
I'd argue that it was his choice to turn up mob handed so he could finish quicker, you'd have been happy for it to have taken twice as long but pay only one "daily rate".

I guess it also depends on how large the area is and how happy you are with the workmanship.

Outrageous billing.
Was he using diamond encrusted plaster FFS. You are talking a small child's room for that price. Cheeky tw@t.

Thanks all, we all appear to be singing from the same song sheet, I shall have a robust conversation with him.
