Hi,

We, me and the gal, will be touring Wales this Easter on the Bird. Anyone any favourite roads, routes or pubs that are bike-friendly to share?

Many thanks
Doc and P

Give Stan a tinkle I'm sure he could/would take you on a merry dance of some of the great roads around the Brecon Beacons. to many to post on here bl4hbl4h
Try out the road between A4067 Sennybridge/Abercrave great views and the best cave system in the UK at Dan yr ogof but beware of the camera van at Cray man8um

Hi DocandP

Really depends on what roads you like, how many miles you want to ride and if you want to move on and stay somewhere different every night.

If it was me it would be something like this:

Cut across to North Wales and get on A542 heading south of Ruthin for a cuppa at the Ponderosa Cafe.
Go west on A5 and A494 for Bala, through high street for a look at the Lake.
Bala is worth an overnight stop.
Double back through high street and go left on A4212 for Frongoch, past national white water rafting center.
Just after Llyn Celyn drag yourself off this road for an even better one going right onto the B4391, takes you to Llan FFestiniog.
Head south on A470 to Dolgellau then A487 to Machynlleth.
At Machynlleth cenetaf go left on A489, some nice little caf's on LH side before leaving town.
Look for RH turn at Penegoes and head over pass to Dylife (unnamed roads but ok), through Staylittle and take a break overlooking the magnificent Llyn Clywedog on the B4518.
Carry on into Llanidloes then B4518 again onto Rhayader.
Worth a night here or carry on south on the A470 to Builth Wells then East on A483 to Llandovery.
Stop a night here and get a cuppa at the West End Cafe.
Go east on A40 for the third main biker cafe in the Abergavenny bus station.

Heading North you could either double back on A40 past crickhowell, go right on A479 to Talgarth, A470 to Builth and A483 to Cross Gates with another useful transport cafe a few yds down the A44 to Kington. Carry on to Newtown and on home.

Or you could go from Abergavenny onto A465 briefly for Hereford, turn right for B4521 to Skenfrith, follow your nose to T junction turning right onto A49 for Ross.
A bit of Dual but DO NOT go onto M50 instead at roundabout take 1st exit for Ledbury on A449, onto Malvern Hills (nice place for a cuppa) carrying on to Worcester.

This route is the Dog's, some open A roads and tight B roads past some great sights.
After that lot you may want a bit of Motorway to get home.

Actually, i have 3 nights booked May bank Holiday at Hartington Hall in Hartington, Buxton. Any suggestion for routes around the Peak District, so far i've only paid a quick visit to Matlock Bath.

Ok Tim will do. Last time i was there it was a quick in and out (aaaah memories) but i was there long enough to pass about 20 yellow signs of a biker riding towards me, placed on the side of the road. Bloody distracting, no doubt the work of some partnership or other.
