Further to what John has posted, if your SIL has no interest in BMWs how is he in a position to comment on them having tech issues?

Aside from that, I start a thread with a picture of my new BM and then you write an incomplete post with only half the info about BMWs allegedly having technical issues which is based on second and third hand information given to you by someone who clearly knows nothing about BMWs. That's pretty bad form in anyone's book.
I have never owned or had any desire to own a BMW of any description but I don’t need to to know they are over priced crap.

His mate has the bike and was the source of details. SIL was a bit shocked at the treatment by the dealer.

My objective was a FYI for anybody interested in potential problems with new bikes as this is not the first time BMW has had electronic problems, discussed in the BMW club magazine at the time. And at that time, as I recall, BMW weren't rushing to help owners with problem.

I'm not into slagging off bikes to annoy other owners.

SIL has rebuilt many bikes and engines and raced side car in IOM. Raced karts to championship win. He knows a little about it.
Show me one manufacturer of bikes or cars that hasn't had a problem somewhere along the line. If it was indeed a genuine "...FYI for anybody interested in potential problems with new bikes...", this wasn't the time or the place. Your 'objective' was poor form in a thread on my new bike.

I had a small problem with my previous BM and the dealership couldn't help me quick enough. They even collected my three bikes when we moved from Kent back to Wales and transported them to the new house so that I didn't have to rely on a removal firm. There's a reason I use a dealership that's 150 miles from my front door. Whilst your SIL's mate's experiences are regrettable, I have nothing but praise for the two BM dealers we use (one for cars and the other for bikes). I can only go on my own experience and, so far, it's been nothing short of first class.

Don’t force your opinions on others or the local troll will be all over you.

Oh, I forgot, it is.

And certainly don’t air an opinion about Apple products being crap and Android being wonderful, that might be deemed as forcing opinion on others and deemed hypocritical by the troll.

How wonderfully ironic.

I know my troll is still lurking but I’ve no idea what they are saying though

Don’t worry, you aren’t missing anything according to my sources who are finding it increasingly tedious.
Perhaps your sources would actually tell me themselves.

Or perhaps they didn’t make clear who they found tedious?

One of my favourite words lurking, you can't be up to any good if you're lurking
When we were on a visit to Mayport Florida, every night someone would get hold of one of the various tanmoys on board ship & tell everyone about their night out, one morning the Officer of the day got on the tannoy & said “whoever is making these announcements had better stop as tonight I will be lurking & I will find you”
That night the guy started his delivery of his night ashore, suddenly he went quiet for a few minutes then he pipes up “you’re lurking in the wrong place”
