Can't remember the road number but 'Dukes pass' from Aberfoyle to Kilmahog, it's like a mini alpine pass through the Trossachs, absolutely stunning road and the scenery is breathtaking. Which is why you should do it twice, first to look at the view the second to enjoy the corners.

I rode that one and thought a NC30 would be the best bike going on it, with it's short wheelbase, not so good on a barge of a bike though.

A466 - Monmouth and Staunton, Monmouth
Andy - the A466 is the road that runs from Monmouth to Chepstow and is known as the Wye Valley road cos it runs alongside the River Wye all the way through. About 16 miles of awesome fun, culminating in the infamous "Wyndcliff" section just before Chepstow (where Bert very nearly overcooked it with Buzz on pillion!).

The road you mention from Monmouth up to Staunton is the A4136 which is great too, but only about 5-6 miles. There are two S bends up there which would be terrific, BUT they need treating with a good deal of respect. Reason - there is a very active quarry just up the road and a lot of indusrial activity up in the Forest of Dean, which means a lot of trucks use this road despite it's very narrow lanes and tight corners. These S bends have a very bad surface where the truck tyres have scraped up the tarmac leaving a mosaic pattern of differing height layers of asphalt. Very easy to lose grip in them two!! The rest of this road is good though, right through to the A40 near Gloucester. You have watch out for deer too, another real hazard when in the forest.

Both of these roads start at the same junction just at the bottom of my road :lick: :lick:

Drove it many, many times when we had the pub in Newbridge and the Cash & Carry was in Builth, and one day decided to count the bends whilst Hunter was driving.

A39 Bridgwater to Minehead...what a crappy road...all double white lines, speed cameras & speed limits-rubbish. Now if you go a little further West on the A39 & do the next section-Minehead to Lynmouth, now youre talking. No cameras or speed limits.Breathtaking scenery,no built up areas, hardly any traffic & certainly no plod,so dont do the Bridgwater route if you want to get to Minehead...take the road from Taunton instead, then go on to Lynmouth...youll not regret it...!!! A814 (i think) from Arrochar towards Garelochead....an utter bitch of a road, anything much over 50mph and your airbourne over the crests,it skirts along the loch side, very twisty.Always accidents on this one and freely wandering sheep just in case your not on your toes. Last one i saw was a trike that clipped the barrier.....ripped the rear axle clean off. Still, a fantastic buzz if you get a good run at it i.e. no sheep/traffic etc.
