Scotland were outclassed. Ireland 's defence was like a brick wall for the majority of the game.

I hope you Bogtrotters give the Kiwis a good kicking too.

Scotland didn’t do a lot wrong in the first half other than not taking points when they were availabke (easy with hindsight) and trying to run through a brick wall.

Cant understand why Sexton didn’t get a card when the referee told him he started the brawl just after half time.

I think because the ref considered the "retaliation" to being deliberately tripped (in a round ball way) as just a push, not unreasonable.

The brawl then came about from the Scotland players objecting to the push and wading in.

The deliberate shoving a player over the hoarding was worse?

A keg was placed in the machine for tonight's final.

Off shortly for some shopping, must ensure some nibbles and various snacks to accompany.

Tough afternoon ahead. Off to the rec to watch the mighty Bath kick the old enemy up the ass then find a pub with some standing room to watch the final. I'm not overly fond of Bath usually but there is no denying it comes to life on match days. We love our proper rugby down sarf.

After last week’s show against England I was rooting for NZ and felt that they were the better team.

Listening to referee Barnesy was great to get to understand the way he made his decisions.

I was supporting the Boks but felt really sorry for the Kiwis. The TMO stifled the game and put NZ at an undeserved disadvantage with some dodgy calls.
I honestly believe that the TMO should be no more than an advisor to the ref, much like the linesmen. The final decision should always lie with the ref.
And the "will it stay yellow or become a red card" waiting is ludicrous. The ref makes his decision, the TMO makes his... there's no need for further off field scrutiny during the match.
It'll get to the stage where players will hold back from tackling due to fear of over zealous TMOs.

I like the review process. Player off the pitch straight away once foul play is identified then a full investigation undertaken while the game goes on. Takes the pressure off the referee and gives a massively increased chance of a correct and fair decision being reached. There will still be some subjectivity but that is the nature of sport..some will agree, some won’t.

Now they need to address the ludicrous amount of time in rugby where the clock is ticking but nothing is happening.
