Coming home Friday night, outside lane A2 just past M25, going at an 'appropriate speed for the conditions officer', large sheet of polythene billows up about a 100 yards in front of me and hangs suspended two feet in the air over the outside lane like a curtain.
Surreal to say the least, particularly with the middle lane not an option due to traffic.
Needless to say, being an amazing rider who looks way down the road to avoid danger, I avoided what could have been a disasterous incident. There is a lot to be said for acvoiding 'target fixation'!!
And, needless to say, the car driver behind me ploughed straight into it, fortunately without any serious consequence!!
I will never, ever listen to anyone that says linked brakes on a Bird are no good.
And I will never, ever fell more like cr*pping myself on a bike!! This is the first and hopefully only time I have been so scared that I stopped to have a few deep breaths before resuming my journey!!
