A lot of it is down to luck - my brother did a lot of session work and was forever telling me that there were loads of, in particular, vocalists that were only ever session backing singers that were miles better than many 'Stars'.

It works both ways though...I always thought Lulu was successful as a result of her fantastically bubbly and infectious personality that got her tons of airtime on programmes such as 'The Cliff Richard Show'.

Then I saw this.....absolutely stunning, not least as it is one of the most complex songs to sing in terms of structure...shivers up the spine for me....

I had never gone to concerts but I had tickets to see him in Limerick. Unfortunately the man who owned the theatre and booked him died in a car crash a day or two before, so I never got to see him.
