I really cannot get my head round Trump publically calling the police officer involved in the Florida school shooting 'a coward'.
It certainly looks like he didn't do his job, but that is not the same as being a coward.
Looks like classic deflection technique to me - maybe the gun laws might have a bit more to do with it rather than the inaction of one officer?? Maybe the Right to Bear Arms is one that Trump doesn't think he can change so not even going to try as he doesn't want to be seen to fail. Other than giving teachers guns that is, a rather brilliant idea..
He wasn't a cop, more of a deputised security guard. If you ask me, those that are quick to judge have been watching far too many movies, tv series and computer games...including Trump.
Going toe to toe against someone armed with an assault rifle when you've only got a pistol is a tough ask for a security guard with basic firearms handling skills and if the rifle has been modified for full auto then the odds are heavily stacked in the shooters favour. The odds in their favour increase further as the engagement distance increases....5.56mm rounds will penetrate cover that would stop or severely degrade the lethality of 9mm or .45 rounds.
Also worth noting that most of these types of shooters carry an over abundance of rounds, whereas the guy with the pistol might have 1 mag in the weapon, plus 2 on his belt. He can therefore afford to expend large amounts of rounds to keep you suppressed while walking up to finish you off.
It's a rare thing for someone to stay focused and return fire effectively with a just a pistol against superior firepower. Invariably a win for the individual armed with the pistol is down to the fact that they are highly trained, whereas the gunman (or gunmen in one case that I know of) are poorly trained and opt for the spray and pray technique.
