On the same basis that kitchen designers must be male as they put things in places convenient for fitters, but not for users (however, I did change my mind three times once my kitchen was fitted, purely from a functionality point of view rather than layout)

But do you have extra shelves in your cupboards to increase capacity? A four inch gap between shelves is enough for, eight dinner and side plates or casserole dishes.

A man thought of that.

Ahem.

This woman thinks along the same lines, some of the plates are in the dishwasher though. However, it was shelves I didn’t like so redesigned it with drawers instead in most units, far more practical. The only shelved floor cupboard now is the one in the photo, which is under the breakfast bar and not as deep, so no scrabbling to the back for things

What are your views on having a large flat cutlery tray in the top of the dishwasher opposed to the traditional basket at the bottom?

Been there, and had one

I’ve got one and leave her to it, that’s her domain and I’m not allowed to enter.

I have one in my dishwasher. Pro - more room in the bottom basket. Con - Less height in the upper basket, or if lowered, less height in the bottom basket.
