Probably due to my cheekiness whilst I was in the Navy I have gained a reputation as an ace barterer, when we are on hols if Bev wants anything she delegates me to negotiate for her.
Today we were shopping for my 60th birthday present, "Do you want a gold chain?" She asked.
"Ok" said I, so off to several jewellers we went, first one had a nice 20" chain for £1500, "you are not spending that much" said I "do you want it?" asks she, "not at that price" said I so off we went to look further.
At the fifth jewellers I saw a nice chain but they wanted £1200 & it was 11 grams lighter than the first one.
Back to the first jewellers we went, "ok what is your very best price?" I asked, "£1000" she replied, "£700" said I "ooh I can't do that" she replied, we started to walk away when I heard "£750"
A deal was struck & the chain is now safely hidden until my birthday meal in Buca di Beppo's in Florida.
