Standard Fitment 'Bird Screens

A bit of information regarding the relative dimensions of the two types of screen fitted to the 'bird. There was a bit of a discussion a few days ago about whether there was any height difference between the "Mk 1" and the "Mk2", and I said I had both versions in my garage. Well, I took the time to compare the two today, and I can now reveal that when the screens are laid on a flat surface ie the bench, the Mk1 is 120mm high and the Mk2 is 150mm high. I think you will agree that 30mm is quite a difference, and fitting a Mk2 should be helpful to those of a taller disposition, and most others for that matter. Hope this info is useful to anyone out there.@tu*

Clueless in most things
Would I be right in saying that in fitment terms, the same screen that fits a 97 carb will also fit a 2007 injection, so the fittment is the same throughout the years and the only changes are the contours of screen depending on the owners personal choice?

Pretty much the same fitment but you will find that the earlier screens tend to have a blacked out area to cover the clocks on the Carbed version and the later ones are clear.

I just added a dash of matt black to the inside of the later screen to replicate the early ones ( if that makes any sense at all 8rfl@

Thats correct. Any screen , standard or aftermarket will fit any 'bird ( I've had five different screens on my 'birds until I am now happy with the MRA Touring ) @tu*
