I liked that as even though I disagree to a degree I do see what you are getting at
I have carried a penknife ( & larger ones when required) since the age of 8 & have been in a position to defend myself or even give someone a good clump more times than I care to remember but the thought of stabbing someone never ever crossed my mind & never will
So there is a distinction to be made between someone like myself who regularly carries a "tool" & uses it every day & someone who goes out with a "weapon" with intent to harm ............. my Gerber multitool that lives on my belt all the time is not technically legal even though it is within the permitted size as I understand it because the blade locks out (better than it folding on my fingers) ......... FYI I have a few knives etc all of which are perfectly legal to buy, own or even sell if the mood takes me
While I am at it ..... I a saw a cop type programe a few weeks ago where a bloke had his air rifle confiscated & destroyed, mainly because he was as thick as two short planks & couldn't come up with a reasonable excuse to having it as any responsible air gunner would have! ..... the point being the copper didn't have a clue & kept referring to it as a FIREARM which it plainly wasn't & would never be until tested OVER the legal limit (12 ft lb) ............ it turned out to be a bloody electric bb gun ffs, 6ft lb if you are lucky but probably nowhere near even that with no way of upping the power even if you were daft enough to want to, still destroyed
Boils my piss to be honest I was shouting at the telly again until the mrs turned it off
FFS I agree we should have laws in place to control the idiots but at least make the numpties that are supposed to uphold those laws conversant with them
