Bike tyre manufacturer's should be investigating this Hazard and developing a tyre that will compensate for the lack of usable grip on this crappy road surface bl4hbl4h

Maybe they are developing an appropriate bike tyre already?
The UK biking fraturnity should put pressure on the tyre developersb0x1

Slicks are the answer :dunno:

Yep!..... and they asked certain tyre manufacturers how could their products cope with this potential threat to riders.
So I wasn't too far off the mark?

The response from "Bridgestone" did not fill me full of confidence!
"The ulitimate responsibility lies with the rider" WTF? Don't think so,
what about the people who put this crap on the road, or the idiots
who deemed it aceptable to be used for said purpose.

Roads are for the masses "cagers", bikers get feck all recognition again.

Yep right on dude
however cage drivers get probs with sma too you only have to look at the amount of skid marks on the shit compared to other types of road surfaces

there was one accident a few years ago a off duty copper down Tenby way skidded the result was his wife was sadly was killed there seemed no reason for the crash
it was suspected sma was the cause there are loads of similar incidents where slippery roads are put down as the cause although a lot of them occurred in the dry with clean tarmac

Best advice is that if you have an off on this surface, make sure that you have a 'photo of the warning signs saying that it's a slippery surface, see your brief and he will say in court that 'Of course it's the County road agencies fault, they knew it was slippy, they even put up a sign admitting it' Game on.

I've been told they don't put up the slipery surface ones now for that very reason, just 'new road surface' signs - you have to guess if it is a good surface or a totally leathal one!:bang: :bang:

They've recently resurfaced the slip road onto the M1 Northbound at jct 38 using SMA tarmac you approach it via a particularly fast roundabout, there were no warning signs that it has been resurfaced I can't even recall any work going on there it just seemed to appear however I have now altered my route so avoid the M1.

My daily commute take in a stretch of road (B4008 towards Gloucester) that has been coated in this sh.te. A small section was originally done and there were numerous accidents including a police car on the way to another accident!
More of the same road has been done in the last year, slippery road signs up ......and the speed limit dropped. Is this 'officialdom' agreeing they have laid a dangerous surface?

They all know cos it is proven to be dangerous - my guess is that 'someone' 'somewhere' has made a 'small holiday allowance' by agreeing to a contract for a huge number of tons of the rubbish, so we are all stuck (or not) with it til the contract is fulfilled. Of course, this is just my cynical view!!!
