Yesterday, daughter along with son in law and his 2 brothers go paintballing.

About 11.45 during the England world cup game, phone rings. Its our daughter who has taken a nasty fall and cannot weight bear on her left ankle (which she has broken twice before) and she is concerned that she will not be able to drive her car home as she cannot depress the clutch.

Long story short, son in laws brother (who has his car with him) offers to run our Kate down to the local hospital in Thatcham. They have a small A & E department and people are usually seen if they have an appointment otherwise it is a wait your turn situation.

So they explain the situation and Kate says "No problem, happy to wait" as by now she is in a lot of pain and her foot/ankle is now 3 times its normal size.

In the meantime she phones us back, and we agree to go down to the Hospital, wait for her and collect her car and drive her home. This would allow the 3 lads to continue with their paint balling day.

So, about an hour and a half after she arrived, we arrived at the hospital and there she is outside waiting for us. In an hour and a half (despite having been told that there were people ahead of her with appointments) she had been seen, X-Rayed, treated and discharged and yep, she has broken her ankle for the 3rd time.

Had she gone to the RBH back in Reading it would probably have taken 3 hours just to see the triage nurse before anything got done.

So big shout out for once to the local NHS Hospital in Thatcham. Great speedy service which makes a pleasant change (y)

Sad for her though:eek:
She will get over it. She has always been a natural born clutz :eusa_whistle:

Like I said this is her 3rd time on the same ankle so its not new to her...
