SE London Service

Hi
Could anyone recommend a place in SE London to get my 2010 Blackbird serviced & MOT? (I'm in Forest Hill). Ashamed to say i've done less than 1k miles in the last year, so just looking for a basic / interim one (should suffice).

my current contender / shortlist is :
Chas Bikes - used them for odd bits with no probs, but also heard some horror stories about them doing servicing shoddily
Jap & German near Tower Bridge - never used them and heard they're BMW specialists really
Happy Bikes - never used them but heard they're scooter folk rather than bike folk

I've been using Dobles for too long for too much £££ - tho not complaining about the work quality, I haven't got the funds for it …or the skills to do it myself before you ask! :)

thank in advance all

If you were West London / Surrey area
I would highly recommend Richard at Capitol Motorcycles in Shepperton

The mechanic is ex Triumph (until he went on and set up his own business a very long time ago )
and was even recommended by them when I wanted work done quite a few years ago
Still use him when something crops up which I needs sorting (and as I have a Bird .... That isn't too often)
He is a great bloke too .... He has a few Cafe Racers old bikes which he does IOM regularly

Bizarre though it might sound I used Ural in West Kingsdown (next to bBrands) for MoTs as they understand bikes (including combined braking system) and have a pragmatic approach. No booking needed, just call in advance to make sure Neil is there and avoid Saturday's! Highly recommended for MOTs@tu*

Did all the servicing myself (it really isn't hard, maybe worth thinking about:dunno:) so no recommendations on that.

Ural about 45 minutes from you - straight down the A2, 2 minutes on m25 then A20 to Brands. worth a visit in my humble opinion if you don't want to get crapped on.

They usually have some vintage bikes in the workshop (the Bird never looked out of place8rfl@and an array of used Harley's for sale - always something interesting to look at, always a good natter.

Depends what you want doing if you fancy a ride down to the south coast then oil and filter plus air filter is easily doable (as i have done many times) spark plugs whilst tank off doing air filter not a bad idea, brake and clutch fluid can also be done. Can't think of much else other than a good look round. Cost to you is in parts (don't go to Honda and buy oil) and a contribution to my beer fund!!

Let me know

Sounds like a good offer, Paul. After you have watched it done you will be happy doing it yourself in future. :-0) Wouldn't trust most dealers with my P&J when I had a Bbird.

I would urge you to find out what year your bike is though.. Telling the people doing the servicing the wrong year could mean if they have to get parts in ready for the service they might get the wrong stuff in..

As the last Bird ever made was 2008 telling them it is a 2010 could be darned confusing LOL !!
