It's not a rat bike and not meant to be.
It's a "survival " and it's just the start of a project.
Yes it was quite servicable apart from a shagged motor and the rusty bits of frame painted with household gloss.
I had a rat many years ago, a Matchless 350 with BSA forks Suzuki mudguards, T bars, home made high level exhaust,Home made seat on a BMW base.
Did the ACU/RAC national rally on it.
I built the bike from scratch. I got the frame, log book and bottom end of the engine for ?15.
When you've done something like that and know every nut, bolt and gasket, the bike does seem to take on a personallity of it's own and yeah you do become attached to it. I didn't reallise how much until a year and a CB550 later. I tried to buy it back but the owner was restoring the Matchless to original condition !
