Rossi and Yamaha together for 2007 and 2008

Yamaha Motor Company Ltd and Valentino Rossi will continue to race together until the end of the 2008 season.

The next two seasons will see Rossi ride as part of Yamaha?s Official Factory Team, with which he has already won two MotoGP World Championship titles since joining the Factory in 2004. The Italian, who turns 28 this month, has won 25 Grand Prix during his three seasons with Yamaha and currently stands third in the all-time Grand Prix winners list.

Rossi, who is spearheading the rider development of Yamaha?s new 800cc motorcycle in the run-up to the new MotoGP season, will be back in action next week for Yamaha?s second test of the year in Sepang, Malaysia.

Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, commented ?We are thrilled to confirm that our partnership with Valentino will continue for a fifth year in 2008, and it?s especially good to have completed all contract negotiations before the start of the rapidly approaching 2007 racing season. This now leaves Valentino free to concentrate solely on the job in hand ? winning back the World Championship! The past three years with Valentino have been a huge success for the Yamaha brand worldwide, Valentino is a great champion and there is no doubt in our minds that he remains the best possible person to continue to lead Yamaha?s MotoGP effort for the foreseeable future.?

?I?m very happy I renewed the contract with Yamaha until the end of 2008 so now I can just concentrate on racing this season? said Rossi. ?I think that last year, when we fought back from what seemed an impossible situation to come so close to taking the title, showed what a fantastic team we are and this is why I want to stay with Yamaha. The past three years with Yamaha have been very positive and this is why I am pleased to stay. The atmosphere in our garage is always relaxed and happy and I think that this is something very special and difficult to find. I have great faith in Yamaha and I am very excited about my future and the future of the 800cc bike with them. We are ready to challenge with the new 800cc and now this agreement gives us the chance to launch this challenge for the next two years?.

Davide Brivio, Team Director of Yamaha Factory Racing, commented: ?During the last three seasons we have won on our debut with Valentino in 2004, dominated in 2005 and lost in 2006: to extend the contract for a further year at the end of a difficult season like the last one is the greatest demonstration of the trust Valentino has placed in this Team. This is the great motivation for everyone; Valentino, the engineers, the mechanics, all the staff and, of course, all those who, like me, have lived and continue to live through the victories and the defeats so intensely. We will continue to enjoy ourselves on track and to provide enjoyment for the huge numbers of passionate fans of two-wheeled sport; together we will look forward to the next two seasons with great energy.?

Oh and Foggy has failed for this year also..

does that mean Hodgeson hasnt got a ride this year ??? cant remember him getting one ???

BLACKBURN racing legend Carly Fogarty has given up hope of racing for this season.

But he has vowed to spend the coming year searching for sponsorship that will see him come back better than ever in 2008.

It is understood the four-times World Champion is on the verge of clinching a deal with Italian manufacturers MV Agusta for next season, although significant funding is still required.

He said: "I would rather use this season to find proper funding for a competitive project for 2008 rather than produce a half-hearted effort for this season.

"It's no secret that we have been in talks with MV Agusta and we would definitely be keen to work with such an iconic brand.

"The focus for my team is now to find funding for 2008 and beyond.

Rossi leathers fetch 60,000 euros at auction

Sat 20 Jan, 9:00 AM
As reported last month, Valentino Rossis leathers worn at the 2006 Valencia Grand Prix were put up for grabs on internet auction site Ebay during December, with all proceeds going to the worthy cause of the Gaslini de Genova childrens hospital in Italy. The suit and gloves fetched a fantastic 60,000 euros from Rossi sponsor Grupo Kerakoll, who in fact werent the official winners of the auction..

MotoGP fan Lorenzo Montaldo had placed the highest bid, some 24.330 euros. However, upon hearing of the Grupo Kerakolls intention to raise the stakes by over double to help the needy children, he made the selfless donation in an admirable act.

Dainese will increase the total further by throwing in the 10,150 euros placed by an anonymous French bidder for Rossis boots.

As the bids were opened, Rossi had declared I hope that this can do a lot for the children at Gaslini. I have confidence in the generosity of whomever chooses to do good

Hey! Quite an astute call (for you, M8!)... There'll definitely be "Rossi" in the winner's name - 2007 and 2008 here we come!

The future's bright...The future's ROSSI p0pc0rn41

chosen to concentrate on off-track development
Probably a good idea really as thats were they will be doing most of their riding.. trying to keep up with the fast guys

got a special ECU fuel map sorted for getting Rossi out the gravel without stalling the engine...

should be good for 3secs a lap and get him 8th instead of 9th:p

Bet they are working on their book of dirty tricks as well.. the Rossi black art of bending the rules and getting away with murder book..

needs updating after last few years worth of errmmm errors d34l

OR... he is actualy THAT good that all he has to do to win is turn up.. ???? man8um naaaahh

damn right it will be. Biaggi won't be making it easy for Troy to get past when Try laps him.
Given Maxs recent history, I can't see him mounting a serious challenge.

If his bike's not perfect he'll throw a strop and finish nowhere. Having Kagayama as a team mate might upset him too, he rode really well towards the end of last season and Max won't like his team mate finishing higher....

Toseland just doesn't seem to have enough mental strength, he needs his head to be right before he can compete with Bayliss and too many times he seems not to be motivated. Be nice if he can sort himself out though, he's shown he has the ability.

Can't see Corser doing much, he seems fine if he's got the best bike, but as soon as the others have equal machinery, he slips backwards.

It would be nice to see Haga win it, but I think he's destined to be another Randy Mamola, nearly but not quite.

So, Bayliss again then?

:dunno:

...Yeh!!!...Heh-heh! :} Just finalising a few details and we'll be all set! :yo:

...Don't dismiss Mad Max..This could be his final bid for Glory and he's got a decent bike under him - :lick:

...Toseland's no wimp and, as far as I'm concerned, Kagayama has nothing to prove to anyone other than himself. He and Haga could really set the WSB world on fire this year if they both get it right...

...All in all...

...

...'S-gonna be a hell of a racing year for the bikes, boys...!!! :yo: k1ap

We'll be riding to Catalunya, Donington, Assen and Misano, Jon. :yo:

We'll also be looking forward to meeting Patrick&Manuella, Paul&Trudi, your good self, OB and anyone else who fancies a bit of company, a few bevies and a lorra-lorra fun! smilie_koc

You're entirely right about Donington, though - but it's only a couple of hours away and who knows - it might not even be raining...!! :} We'll take our chances (and create our own atmosphere (cue abuse)) as we continue to support the talented one - our own -our very own...
