I agree, Barrie.

We will never know for sure but Neil Hodgson said he thought Marquez was protecting Lorenzo from Pedrosa. I must say, I was surprised he didn't make a strong attempt at passing Lorenzo.

If it had been Vale he would have been trying to force his way past as he did repeatedly in the previous race. John is right in that it was a clean as clean race but that was only because neither Honda's were trying hard to win. Fuck the little arse stuffing Spaniard arseholes as far as I am concerned. I shall not be supporting Honda whilst those two little shites are on Hondas. :wank:

Cannot remember you ever being so passionate about something Bill..

But interestingly, there are a whole mess of people saying the same sort of thing.

As long as that groundswell continues Honda will be forced to look again at the question of 'do we need someone like Marquez'
he is def damaging the Honda image in the bike world

As annoying as he is, Marquez in perfectly able to make it look like he can't catch someone, by spinning up his tyre a bit more, compromising his line and knock off a tenth here and there so he can race hard on other corners.

I wouldn't put it past him not to get he best setup either and give room for Lorenzo to get pole.

Wonder if Marquez will get an invite to the Ranch?

I got really annoyed when Lorenzo instead of keeping his mouth shut and his nose out of it started campaigning for Vale to be punished hard. He was scared to take Vale on fairly. Arsehole. :wank:

Ask why ~~~~

Ask yourself why a crowd of Spanish race fans with a newly crowned Spanish Champion at a Spanish racetrack ............ were all booing?

Very few people on social media are congratulating Lorenzo

MM believes he is bigger than HRC

Bet he's not!

I agree FB.

The cheers of the crowd every time Rossi passed someone was deafening. :-0)

Oh John I think they know that Yamaha would have him given half a chance now that would make interesting garage politics Jorge and Mark and Rossi and Danny 8rfl@8rfl@8rfl@8rfl@8rfl@ though I'm not sure Honda would have Rossi back

Never been a fan of Honda as a race team. They have always had the philosophy that the bike is bigger than the rider. Reminds me a bit of the way Williams and Ferrari were in Formula 1 years ago.

Ultimately (and with all due respect to the pit crews) it's much more about the rider making the team successful, not the other way round (and for successful, also read "popular, with a strong following" - not just "winning""). You can produce the greatest race bike in the world but without a talented rider to use it to it's limits AND to help with the ongoing development - it's just a very expensive collection of parts.

For me, the riders personality also plays a key part in success (despite the corporate bullshit that Honda particularly like their riders to get involved in).
Which is why I've always been a big fan of Rossi, Simoncelli and Colin Edwards. Guys who are/were entertaining on AND off the bike.

Honda seem to be particularly good at crushing that individualism in favour of a corporate image. Look at Marquez and Pedrosa - humourless nerks (to quote Fletcher). Some might say that they are probably different away from racing and yes, there are some people who are willing to surpress their personalities in favour of furthering their careers. But ultimately a racer (and team) is defined by his/her fans as much as his/her results. The riders (and teams) following makes it almost as much of a success as the actual results. There have been lots of talented bike riders over the years, but their personalities are remembered far more than their results.

For example - how often do you hear people talking about Mick Doohan...?

Lorenzo for me is the ideal candidate for a place in Honda's factory team. His is a contrived personality, formulaic and without a shred of individuality.

Motorcycle racing is, for the masses, an entertainment. A spectacle in the same way as gladiator fighting was. We want to see these guys giving it their all and we all want our favourites to win. But at the same time for most of us we want to see it done fairly and we don't want to see it done by "corporate robots".
