Roads are NOT slippery in the Autumn

If you're slipping and sliding around and spinning up the rear then you're riding like a twat - except in Hampshire where we have the privilage of perfect riding conditions all year round.

So now you know

Slipping and Sliding

Bob, I couldn't agree more - obviously not in full control or riding with respect for the conditions - need to treat the controls like a fine woman - gently respectfully!!
Except in Hampshire of course, where I don't seem to have met any since I have been here (2 months) lol!! (awaits abuse) R#?

I think it's very helpful, a reminder that this time of year there are added dangers like greasy roads with dead leaves on them so save your twat like riding for the summer,

.

unless you live in Hampshire.

Agreed, the road surface is not any slippier, just the crap that they throw down on it, Salt for instance, on a perfectly dry road, trouble is its now mixed with molasses so as it gets mushed in by all the cars and trucks and absorbed moisture from the evening air it gets slippy, The added problem is molasses are used in animal feeds so more and more furry objects are to be found on the road atracted by the smell hence more squashed carcasses as its too slippery to stop before hitting them. Deffo a big problem oop in Yorkshire as soon as the summer hath ended its gritting season. 8ree!

non-grip

sorry if this sounds a bit obvious guys , but, riding in the principality is always slippery nowadays, thanks to sma! On occasion and in places it is less slippery. simple as ! Absolutely essential to warm tyres up, and the grippiest tyres ,at that, before thinking of playing. Take nothing for granted !

Ambush tactics.

Not sure where you are riding Bob but there is plenty of the stuff about! Especially on the mid and west wales roads. It has been laid to deliberately ambush and kill you ! It has done so to many !

roads not slippery... they are when you combine the amount of rain we seem to get which doesn't adequately drain away because the drains are blocked up with mulched leaves mix it with dropped oil from poorly maintained cars or diesel from overfilled tanks which has slopped out at junctions taken at speed by maniac HGV drivers (I know that a lot are extremely good, but there is a minority of idiots). All this before we take into account the lower light levels and the fact that many people are now driving in the dark on the same roads at the same time as they were in the daylight some months ago and not accounting for it. I'll stop there.

Lets cut the crap and STOP cutting in with the negative first. Otherwise no one will listen to you.

just state the facts and offer sensible solutions.

Roads can and are slippery at different times of year for different reasons
winter : ice & snow
Autumn: leaves
Summer & Spring: Roadkill wet manhole covers

We can reduce the possibility of slipping by being more vigillant, choosing routes carefully to avoid narrow leafy lanes industrial estates/routes. Also knowing what diesel smells like will help because you can smell it sometimes before you hit it.
When you stat to slide just reduce slowly the power and it should stop sliding.
Do not panic and use brakes. you need some poer to give traction and to help steer,
