Rider Skill Improvement Day. you asked for it so you've got it!

The next RSID will be held at Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire on Friday 20th May 2005. The cost will be ?85.00 per participant for those paying in advance. In the event of there still being spaces available on the day, then the pay on the gate cost will be ?120.00. The organisers stress that these events have always been oversubscribed previously and we have had to turn riders away in the past!.

Participation is allowed on the basis of compliance with rules that are set out at the end of this text.

The organisers must stress that this is NOT a trackday on the cheap. This is an opportunity to learn more about your own and your machines capabilities in a relatively safe environment.
The aim of the day is to make you more confident in your day to day riding by affording you the opportunity to ride beyond the limits that are normally in play on public roads.

This day will be run in a series of 3 x 20 minute sessions per hour, in groups catering for Novice, Intermediate and Advanced riders.

The Novice group shall have a compulsory full theory input at the start of the day by a qualified riding instructor. The input will cover all aspects of machine handling and dynamics to give Novice Group members a better understanding of how to ride with more confidence. The Novice Group will have Instructors on hand, to help translate the theory into practice.

The Intermediate group will also have Instructors available to them on each session, although Instruction will be on a more Ad Hoc basis. Instructors may choose to ride with you to give you tips and pointers that you may find useful. If an Intermediate group member feels that they would benefit from some guidance, then they should approach an Instructor who will be happy to give them an assessment.

The Advanced group is for experienced riders only, who are confident enough to ride with minimal instruction.

Intermediate and Advanced group members are free to take the theory input at the start of the day, if they so wish.

Prestwold provides a well-surfaced technical circuit, which has full briefing/debriefing facilities, a full canteen with cook on site and rest areas. Visitors/spectators are allowed on site, so are cameras, recording equipment etc.

There will be a mandatory 80Dba noise limit set on the day. There is state of the art noise testing equipment on site that the circuit providers are obliged to use when the circuit is in use. This is the same limit as was set by MIRA, which will give some an idea on acceptable levels. It is the participant’s personal responsibility to ensure that their machines operate within the noise limits. No refunds are available to those whose machines fail this test.

Full joining instructions will be sent out to those who have paid, a few weeks before the event.

To book your place, email me, allan.smith1@blueyonder.co.uk and I will send you a booking form and full instruction re payment etc. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis based on the order that cheques arrive on my doormat. If you are unsuccessful in your application, then your cheque will be destroyed.

Compliance Requirements.
 All participants must hold a full UK Driving Licence commensurate with the machine they will be riding on the day.
 Solo machines only, which must be road legal and conform with current Construction and Use regulations.
 Riders of machines deemed by Prestwold staff to be excessively noisy, will be required to terminate their involvement without recourse to refund.
 No slick tyres allowed.
 Riders will wear BSI approved full-face helmet with functioning visor, together with full (one-piece or two piece) leathers and proper leather motorcycling gloves and boots. 'Cordura' or other alternatives are not acceptable.
 Full payment with a signed Disclaimer must be in the hands of organisers prior to participation in the event.
 100% deposits required which are not refundable, unless the event is cancelled by the organisers.

To prevent unauthorised access to the track, a protocol has been put in place to protect all involved.
Upon the organisers receiving your completed application form and payment, a unique security code will be sent to you. Do not give this code another person, its admits only you. Do not lose this code. Make sure you bring this code with you on the day, without it you will not be allowed on the track!

Buzz.
