Race cans......fitment of

I have recently fitted a pair of Art stainless ovals to the bird. Had a right old mallarky trying to prise the gasket thingummys out of the original cans and made a bit of a mess of them. After much grunting and groaning, (nothing to do with effort you understand, I just work better when aroused), managed to use the old gaskets with the new pipes.

Thing is, whilst the seal between the cans and down pipes appears good (no leaks), the cans didn't push all the way home, if that makes any sense, and don't feel as secure as I think they ought. Are replacement gaskets pricey and if so is there an alternative suggestion you could help me with?

I also fitted ART cans, (4 months ago) had the same problem.

I tried to get the seals out of the OEM cans. I could see they were falling apart, so I stopped, went to me dealer and got 2 new ones. ?8 each though.

Now there are a set in me ART cans and a set in me OEM. Much easier for changing over cans if I need to. And they fit perfectly.

Fair play, I should have done the same with hindsight. Nevermind I've got 2 more years to play until an mot is due so I'll save up in the meantime for another pair of gaskets.

Ps Aren't those cans an aural treat?

Art Cans

Getting a set of Art cans delivered next weekend - so any tips I need to know to make sure I spend more time on the bike and less time fitting the things?

It would pay to get a pair of exhaust seals, ?8 each i think. I did not have them and tried to get the originals out of the OEM cans. They do not come out easily. If they do they may well not work anymore. Get a new pair then you will have a pair in each, ART and OEM.
