Passport applications

My son is heading off to Europe soon in his "Wolfievan" so got all the bits together for a passport for him and took them into the Aberystwyth post office yesterday morning. Guy behind the counter checks them over and says ok mate but you need his birth certificate. Sh1t says I and buggers off home to collect the birth certificate. doesn't mention bc on the checklist. Back into town ,finds a parking spot eventually,queues up AGAIN in't post office and gets a lady next to the bloke I'd seen before. She checks it over and say's "Sorry but photo is not acceptable!!! I looks at bloke beside her but he is suddenly very busy looking elsewhere! Can anyone on here guess why the photo is unacceptable??? Usual piss takin expected! Hope son doen't see this thread! b0x2

Not definate but maybe because his mouth is open. Apparently you are not supposed to show any facial expression ie smile.

a "different" post office or maybe a return to the same one and present the picture again to one of the other "jobsworths" preferably the one that was willing to accept the picture first but "just" needed the B/cert,!! :dunno:

not allowed to have the mouth open......probably so as not to disadvantage those with no teeth!!!
No point Ian....lady said she would send it in if I wished but it would probably be sent back from the passport office! Post office only prevet for a tenner. Glad they did!

And don't forget, if he was on your passport as a child, he will need to enclose the old one or give the number if its been sent back
My son has just been stitched up on that one :bang:
First time checked.... Only had the small birth cert with him..

Second time ( with large birth certificate.) .. Oh... you need the old passport that you were on of your Mothers AND Fathers

It is interesting looking at issue's people have obtaininng a passport. If it is so difficult, how come all these foreign nationals get issued with them

i think you are supposed to have part of your sholders in the photo?
it tells you on the passport site whats what and shows good and bad examples of photos..pain in the ass!..and ?51 quid just to renew one:rant:

I am just guessing..... but is the photo the proper regulation size.

He and a mate have been working all winter to get the loot together to set off early april...france portugal,spain italy etc . wants to be in Germany for the world Cup in July. they were going backpacking but I bought a Volks T25, new clutch, starter motor and alternator,new bedding and painted inside. safer than backpacking! touch wood.

My son is off to Camp America for 3 months later on this year. It's where the yanks send their kids for their summer holidays and it ain't cheap for them!
