Do leave it parked in gear?
Why not - if its nudged, or pointing downhill, it won't roll off the stand.

Yep, just to clarify
put it in gear when using the side stand.
That way it won't move.

I have just spent the last two years 'tweaking' my wonderful idea for a " stopped on side stand safety security strap". Just ready to go to the international market.
It had modular rubberised grip, easy stowage, fits all bikes, and was very easy to use...
Now you tell me its a bit of old inner tube !!!
What a very clever idea.
