Looking at investing in some hard luggage for next seasons tours. Got a givi topbox, and Motech racks already, question is Givi or Kappa panniers, I know Givi are more expensive but are they worth the extra cost? After all they are just boxes surely? Looking at the E41 Givi Keyless or the Kappa 40 litre jobbies. I take it they don't effect the pillion position? Ta for any comments.

iv got the big givi's jono and they dont alter pillion position (christine actually prefers them on) but it does cause a bit more effort trying to get a less than nubile leg over if you know what i mean:yo:

I got a full set of GIVI luggage for mine, can't fault it at all and my other half actually is more comfortable with it all on as she then a back rest etc (makes it more like an arm chair for her).
Can't really comment on the Kappa gear as i've never had it:dunno: but i can certainly vouch for GIVI:yo: .

I have the GIVI keyless ones, they have a flap on the top with a combination so you dont have to open the whole box to get bits out...

Downside is they are wide! Great care has to be used when filtering, in fact its bloody difficult to filter with them on...

Pillion, wife loves em, she says it feels like she is sitting in an armchair when I have them on, def makes her feel more secure, they dont intrude with her space, but she says it can be a stretch to get her leg over

Hope this is of some use...

I've got the Givi keyless which I find great. The combination lock panel on the top is really useful. :yo:

As has been said they are a bit on the wide side.

I've actually found the best way to filter with 'em is to forget you've got them on and filter anyway then go "oh shite"...... when I did it I was lucky as no-one seemed upset when I looked back to see what I'd hit... the panniers were fine!!:dunno:

Givi

I have them, love them, and my wife feels secure back there. Get the brake lite for the top box, and the luggage liners for travel. You can leave the bags on and just carry in your luggage. I can still cover my bike to protect it/hide it, except the bags are exposed. It sort of keeps the dust/rain off the bike.

I used to worry about the wide panniers and filtering, but take a look at the Bike from behind and see if the panniers are that much wider than the width between your mirrors and you will be surprised, if the front end fits, the arse end should as well, works wonders for your confidence :yo:
