Panniers/Luggage...

Now i had some hard luggage on my vfr which im going to be ebaying off...

I hardly every used them , but when i did i wasnt too impressed with the looks or how wide it made the bike. ... slightly wider than the mirrors it seemed...

I'm looking at maybe getting some luggage for the bird...more than likely being soft panniers...

which are the best? oxford , bagster or another make..

any thoughts ?

Personally

I would stick with Givi for the B/bird,, 42 L topbox & 41L side panniers.

Really depends how much staying over on the bike you are going to do & will you be taking a pillion.

i've got some purple Oxford hampback panniers that are about to be sold if thats any use. Only used about twice. I liked them lots in comparison to hard luggage, but try now to only use tank and tail bags!!

I've used both the Oxford soft panniers / tailpack on trips AND i have done a trip with the GIVI hard luggage.

I prefer the security aspect and ease of use of the GIVI boxes however for storage purposes i sold them and am now using an estate car as support vehicle when i go away.......maybe a little radical but far better.
Seriously though, i have gone back to my Oxford softies.

i've seen the odd thread about putting them on the bird, but i'm not a fan of the look of them to be honest, too wide.. hence looking for soft luggage this time..

I run round with a small 36L top box from Givi, cost me ?15, you can get most day to day things in it, but weekends like this one coming I wish it was a 46L or larger.
Been looking this week on ebay, and with it being touring season prices are a touch high.
BASH this weekend, IOM next weekend, could do with it now.

Hate panniers, make the bike too wide.

I've got the givi stuff on mine (41L panniers, 52L top box) my mates think they're great, everyone moves out of the way when I filter (the blue headlight lens might be the reason there ) and when going quick I punch a bloody great hole in the air for those behind me !!!!!
