I'm off to the hospital this morning for an op on my left knee.

I told them it wasn't right when I was`in hospital in July, Now their saying
"Ah might have to do something about that":shooter:

Apparently, I've a partial rupture to the ACL & LCL??

They are going to go the keyhole apprach and try to hoover out the loose crap
and smooth off the underside of my kneecap:eek:

Should be home later today, As long as they dont decide to open the whole thing up and do the ligaments too

Thanks guys,

I got home at 3.30. Op seems to have gone ok. surgeon tells me he has removed a fair bit of cartilage and shaved the underside of my kneecap.
Also there is slight damage to ligaments but he thinks building my muscles up may be sufficient to stabilise my knee without doing an op on this. That would be a 3-6 months off work job. As it is I hope to be back to my desk job next week.

Checked my C-T scan of my back and pelvis which is still making strange clicking noises and still in pain......"Nothing more we can do with that":bang:

Surgeon also tells me he's been asked to provide a report to my works occupational health provider following my accident ......

"I see from your notes that your a prison officer"? Err yes
"And you are required to restrain people at times"? Yes
"I don't think you will be able to go back to your own job again"

Oh F**k. Lets see just how supportive the SPS are as an employer now.

All the best mate-sure it wont keep a good Falkirk man down for long. Do you have to go to Stirling for it?

Will give you a shout when I'm up your way (parents live in Shieldhill).

Derek,
When I had a recent meeting at work to agree temporary assignments, I invited the area rehabilitation team, Head occupational therapist, physiotherapist and rehab assistant.
The HR manager stated the purpose was to assist me in my return to normal duties.
One of the rehab team asked what would happen if that was not possible..
He answered that due to new DDA legislation and the fact thay SPS is a large organisation, other opportunities would be available.

Now I have no doubt that he may well deny that statement was ever made, but the Head OT recorded it in her notes....

More than 1 way to skin a cat as they say!

I don't wish to alarm you Neil but SPS offering "other opportunities" could mean you find yourself on the wrong side of the locks . Then you would be able to restrain yourself. :p
