Any one in the area surrounding the above junctions on the M6 interested in attending regular ride-outs on a wednesday night ( short blasts) and all day ride outs Sunday. Post your name here , looking to get a group of 5 - 10 together per ride, no exact routes yet but Cat and Fiddle ( a537) Maccesfield is a favourite for a wednesday and Sundays we regularly go up through Preston / Gisbun/ settle/ Devils Bridge/ and up as far as the lakes, also north wales is a favourite , and squires cafe / bar (elmett) and Hawes / hartside cafe runs. All bikes welcome so feel free to ask friends along on their "other" bikes. Candy red blackbirds are most welcome , and the inferior colours will also be tolerated

good to see a few names going on the list , maybe up for knott end tomorrow weather and work permitting, just to put you all in the picture, I am off to Scotland on Friday - Tuesday ( 23rd -27th June ) touring, so I wont be sorting anything on here for this weekend , and next Wed I'll be a bit sadle sore no doubt, but after that I really want to be out as much as possible so will be posting here for something or other every week , a mate of mine on a vfr is usually up for a ride-out aswell , and I am in contact with a couple of other regulars so could be good for the summer, more the merrier

if the weather is dry around tea time tomorrow, Ill post here to sort out a meet, I get on the M6 at jn23 , never been to knott end before , done glasson dock once, so I could do with meeting up with the more northerly members at JN 31 Tickle Trout or even further north if need be ,to be guided in, lets see what the weather holds but it would be good to blow the cobwebs away

When I do the cat and fiddle run on a wednesdays, this is my preferred route Meet at JN23 M6 haydock for about 6.30 -7.00
Head south and meet southerly members of the group at Knutsford services, then exit M6 Jn18 , left onto A54 following signs for congleton, then Buxton
After a sedate ride thru the cheshire countryside it brings you to the Brosley crossroads, this is the final stretch of the A54 that leads to the A537, its like a rollercoaster ride, it has everything from hairpins to wide open straights , and a few bumps and crests to keep you on your toes, it's as good as if not better than the A537 Cat and Fiddle road itself, anyway at the end of the 54 you turn left onto the A537 , the Cat is just up the road on the right, we stop for a drink and a chat then continue along the A537 heading for Knutsford, then along the A50 with a few more opportunities to open the throttle ( just a little officer) ,before rejoining the M6 Jn20 at Lymm, heading North & home. I led a group of well travelled bikers on this a couple of weeks ago who had never been on the A54 stretch and they smiled all the way home. It takes approx 2 hrs round trip from Jn 23 , allow extra time if you get chatting for a while at the Cat and Fiddle

Rain has stopped play at this end, been tempted by a few sunny spells to get the bike out and as soon as i decide to get it out we have a torrential shower, so I have given up . It was raining when I started typing this and it's stopped already.

Pity - its cracking the flags here now, not a cloud in the sky.

Maybe next time

My daughter still goes to lowton high , wont be too specific but I live between Garton dr and Braithwaite , off Slag lane, will be up for a ride out tomorrow, usually meet the locals at m6 jn23 haydock island shell garage, hopefully around 6.30 ish , but I'll post something more accurate as soon as i finish work tomorrow, may be doing Knott end instead of the cat and fiddle but not decided for sure yet.

Just been catching up with things and read this.... 'fraid I can't make tomorrow as already "committed" for the evening..........

Interestingly though I am "attending" Lowton High School tommorrow..... so the blackbird at school is mine!!

ps...... exactly where on Newton Road is the school?

If you are coming from the A580 east lancs end of newton road, heading towards leigh , look out for a pub on the right called the shepherds inn, next to the pub are some railings, this is pedestrian access to the school, if you cant fit thru on the bike , you need to take the next turn on the right , and follow your nose , but it should be sign posted,

Cheers . I wondered where Cat n Fiddle was. Went there a few weeks ago but forgot how I got there.

Also arent you near Snake Pass there thats a good road?
I would join you but it takes me a while to get there via A25, A308, A413, A5, A515, A6.

But may make it some time if I leave here before breakfast.
