"Normal" Biker...

Dark Angel

Still kickin' it!

This is what my “normal” routine would be at this time of the year – and with this fookin’ gorrrr-geous weather we’re getting.

Up 6:30-ish – check the weather (look out the window – not raining – brilliant!). Uncover the bikes, drag the Yam out. Quick visual, then back inside for brekky. After that, maybe mess about for half-an-hour on the Mac, or watch the recording (for the nth time) of the last MotoGP/WSB/BSB/Club race/YT Video of some daft twat’s on-road knob-eddishness. Just until the morning chill lifts a bit.

Get me gear on. Start the Yam to warm-up while I stand there, getting’ me lid on, gloves on, vehicle check then awa-a-a-ayyyyy. Playtime. Then, back to home. Yam away, ‘Bird out. Change me lid for me touring lid (Sena comms so I can answer the phone etc.) Think for a minute or two about whether to turn left or right at the end of the road…. …GO!!!

While I’m writing this, I’m thinking, “Is riding a motorbike a form of exercise?”. Well, I’d say “Yes. The activity increases the heart rate for its duration, and also involves muscular input that raises body temperature, much in the same way as walking does.” And I’m thinking and wondering about this because, when I’m out on my pushbike and I see a police car, I think nothing of it and, presumably, so does the policeman because he doesn’t give me a second glance. It’s the same when I’m out walking with Mrs DA. No problem.

But.. if I was to go out on my bike, I’d probably get pulled over…

...wouldn’t I?

When the opportunity comes to just 'play' on the bike it is the time I miss living in Germany. Taking the bike out for a run on a Sunday was bliss. In Germany the roads are just fantastic, even the back roads and on a Sunday there is next to no traffic due to all the shops and works being closed by law. The only time I would turn the SatNav on was to get me back home as I would be anywhere. Once set out from hameln and found myself in the Harz mountains, beautiful.
Going off anything other than A roads riding round Kent and it is a death trap.

Beautiful places are everywhere, DB - especially when the weather's bright and you're on your bike!

Your mention of Germany reminds me of a trip that took us for an overnight on the shores of Lake Constanz.
Absolutely stunning scenery and, as you say, fantastic roads, too. (y)

Normal biker ?

There is no such thing we all have out little foibles, our own ideas, our own attitude to riding & own opinions on what constitutes a good ride out ;)
