non-starting xxy,any pointers?

It lives! Friend with van arrives to stick bike in van, press starter and it fired up first time....
No idea why it's not started up to now, my mate thinks either dodgy supermarket petrol or the kill switch not contacting properly.Either way it goes so is not getting dismantled for the sake of it.
