Stayed at the gliding club in Fuentemilanos a few years ago. Just a stone's throw from Segovia & locals very friendly. Might even be able to cadge a ride in the tug if Antonio's still there.

The on-site catering was pretty good too if I remember:lick:

I've emailed them to enquire. Awaiting a response. Hope their English is better than my Spanish.

Thanks for the reply. Checked out their website. Looks like you need to be a pilot or club member to use their camping facilities.

Just say you've got a friend who flies in England. We just turned up on a couple of bikes (which the Spanish love) & I don't remember even being charged for membership. Of course if you show interest in having a go in a glider......(it's also a great way of seeing Segovia - from the air)@tu*

Mate, how long are you looking to stay and what time of year ?

There are several different options depending on the above

Also.. Are you looking for lots of on site goodies ( not showers and the like as they are standard.. but club house, restaurant, wifi and the like )

End of July, early August (school holidays because our daughter is coming too) We're only planning to stay there for about 3 days before we head North to the Picos mountains via Salamanca. Not too fussed about "extras" but a swimming pool is essential.

So far we've found an airstrip for gliders about 10 miles from Segovia which has been recommended to us, and has its own campsite.

Just to finish off this thread.

We've had the holiday, 1000 miles door to door. Both bikes behaved faultlessly. The campsite at the aerodrome was excellent. Basic but quiet and reasonably priced - with a pool too.

Stayed at a campsite outside Salamanca behind the Regio Hotel; it's the one Back Street Heroes use for their "run to the sun."

Up into the Picos de Europa and stayed at http://www.lapisa.co.uk/

Wife loved it so much she wants to go to Portugal next year, except some friends in Romania have invited us to stay, and a friend in Bulgaria - that's a 4000 mile round trip.
