I know it's a car related discussion, but what do people think ?
Is F1 better without Bernie?

I would like to think yes - but - the new owners have already hinted at dropping some of the not so profitable venues.

The UK is one of the possible casualties of this.

The good part is that the US owners seem to like the 15" wheel idea that Bernie always rejected.
Tyre manufacturers have said for years that a move from 13" to 15" wheels would almost halve the tyre cost each year.

I think it will be a good thing for F1 never a fan of his. The new people have said that there will be a British GP but haven't said if it will be at Silverstone, personally I hope it goes else where as it causes chaos on the local roads and you can only go south as all of the roads north of here are either shut or gridlocked

Pit stop.

As this seems to be the most exciting part of F1, I think it's days must surely be numbered. :dunno:

Way to early to say.

Move to the bigger cars will limit some circuits like Monaco, but thats never really been a race just a showboat for F1.

The Yanks want to turn it into 'Superbowl' type events, marching bands and all that razzle, maybe not what the rest of the world wants to see.

Silverstone is now the only circuit in the UK deemed as safe for F1, so if it goes we lose it period.

Ross Brawn is involved and hopefully he will keep his feet on the ground.

Bernie will be missed though, ruled with a rod of iron, the wagons had to be parked inch perfect, or you heard from him, and that was how the rest of it was run, and it worked.

2017 will be a make or break year, bring it on......

Couldnt give a monkies if we lose the British Gp ..F1 has

is long overdue..surely they can only make things in F1 better

Clueless in most things
The last few years even more so with kers, it has been like watching a scalextric race. The only time through the whole season it was interesting was the very last race for the last 20 laps were Lewis backed up the traffic to try and win.

If, as has been mentioned that silverstone may lose out that could be interesting for F1 given how many teams are based around that area.

I fear it is going to go down the route of Nascar, not so much oval laps but "all that jazZ shit" Americans feel the need to do. to try and make a 2 day event a 5 day one but you are unlikely to see a ticket price drop given how much they have spent to buy it.

This genuinely might be the last season I watch F1

I think it will breathe a breath of fresh air into the sport. I can't say I follow F1 but I do find it to be the ultimate exercise in the practice of marginal gains. Over a thousand people behind each F1 car/team:eek: they are without doubt incredible machines.

It's been mentioned that it will follow the Super Bowl route? To me the super bowl is now what the FA cup used to be, so I don't see a problem of hyping it up in that way:dunno:

immediate changes need to be made to make it more exciting;

- reintroduce the old style Le Mans starts where drivers have to sprint to their cars With a free for all following. Picture it,; driver runs across the track, three minutes to strap himself in, seventeen mechanics with laptops start the engine after thirty minutes of warming the oil up.........
- award points for fastest qualifying and then have the grid in reverse order I.e, quickest at the back
- introduce crossovers like there is in Scalectrix
- reincarnate James Hunt:bow:
- reduce tyre width so the cars slide rather than going round corners as if on rails
- stop 'celebrities' wandering round the grid (unless the race has started@tu*)

Ok, a bit tongue in cheek, but they need to introduce elements to make the racing exciting and the results less predictable. Also find ways of breaking down the barriers for entry. Would Hesketh be able to compete and win a GPToday?

Also a lid on budget might be helpful, although I doubt the likes of Mercedes would be so keen on participating as lack of domination would not support their brand
