bastard bastard bastard interweb. I downloaded an instruction manual from a well known electrical manufacturer at the weekend and the bastard bastard bastard download has messed with my search engine. Although it still looks like it is Google (which is fine) the bastard bastard batard thing has changed appearance and appears to be under the auspice of bastard bastard bastard 'PDFCoverterHQ'. This looks like an 'add on' to me but according to the Options screen on the browser (Firefox) there are no add ons. I cannot find a bastard bastard bastard double bastard application for PDFConverterHQ. Anyone got any ideas how to get rid of the BASTARD thing? Before anyone says 'follow the unuinstall instructions' at the foot of the browser page, the bastard thing doesn't work.

It probably makes bugger all difference in reality, i just hate this type of behaviour from the BASTARDS and don't want to encourage it.

While you're at it check under Options to see what the default Home Page is set to and if it's something other than your usual then change it back...

Quite a lot of these hijacks include redirecting your home page or adding an additional one.

First thing to do is download !Avast and get that running

You have inadvertently downloaded a Trojan Andy

And Trojans are notoriously difficult to get rid of

Bastard thing is still there.

As suggested above I will use a different browser - unfortunately I cannot use Chrome as they stopped supporting Java a few months ago which I need when working from home.

However, that will self resolve on 29 April.......R#?:-0)R#?

Why has no-one told me about "Adbloc?" Just installed it and what a feckin difference. On default settings access to sites is soooooooo much faster. Was I alone in not knowing about it? :dunno:

Been using adbloc on this chromebook for ages, quite fast machine but it does help not storing anything at all on it.

Got rid of the bastard thing HA!! Cheeky sods disguised the file with a completely different name to what they call it when the BASTARD thing pops up. Can't outwit a genius i'm afraid.

Funny thing is that when I managed to uninstall it they asked me to complete a questionnaire about why I no longer use their service.

Well I have mentioned it several times over the years.. Though no longer use it as I have moved on to ABP ( ad blocker plus )
