I wonder what Valentino will say??!

Dark Angel

Still kickin' it!
Justifiably delighted with his maiden win last time out in Turkey, Marco Melandri has declared that his intention is to wrap up second place at the last race of the season:

?After my first dream has come true [winning a MotoGP race], I want to clinch the second place in the championship and will be riding thinking about the standings.?

?Young-man? Melandri also seems to have thrown down the gauntlet to ?Old-man? Rossi ahead of the final MotoGP meeting at Valencia. In typical fashion, the likeable but straight-talking Honda rider displays no qualms when it comes to his own assessment of his Turkish debut win:

??winning in the MotoGP class is special, riding at such an incredible pace. It was the most beautiful win I could ever have imagined.?

A further sign of Melandri?s brimming confidence is borne out by his assertion that his level of performance during the race had left Valentino Rossi powerless to reply:

?I had Valentino under control the same way he does with others. It was a dream for me, a thought which kept me going when I was exhausted.?

Some have said that Nicky Hayden had his chance at Laguna Seca and, bless him, he took it; but then Rossi put him back in his place rather smartly after that!

Some might say that Melandri?s ?Laguna Seca? was in Turkey? :p
