in a bit of bother.
All depends how I play it.
Now then, you all know I work in mental health care, so... without mentioning actual names, bear with me.
A certain male patient is addressed as a she, no sex change, but dresses as a female & identifies himself as female.
Contractors rock up to exchange a light
in his ensuite, no biggie but I don't get
a heads up on this particular morning as
to whom is a risk. Off I trot to the nurse station to enquire if it's safe to proceed with entry to this patients room. Three nurses and one admin staff are sat listening to my enquiry.
Nurse in charge 'What's the job?'
Me 'Exchange faulty light fitting in his ensuit.'
All of them shouted 'SHE!'
This response kinda made me a tad pissed off, so I responded accordingly.
I replied 'No! He!! If he was a she, then why is she in a male psychiatric unit with 31 other male service users + he still has male genitalia so therefore cannot be physically classed as a male.'
Now, I'm not and never have been part
of his or any patients care package directly as that's not part of my remit.
So I'm not fully aware of any personal
issues regarding any service users.
Tumbleweed ensued and the contractor looked to bury his head in the floor.
Not very professional by me, but I cannot compute this one sided snowflake mentality of this company.
I get the name change and call him as he would like to be addressed.
Anyhow, someone has bubbled me to the hospital management and have asked my department manager to have a word regarding my seemingly disrespectful comments towards this patient although he wasn't in earshot at the time.
There is a 'drop in' session via the personnel depot this Thursday, I'm
going to attend and maybe escalate
this load of bollox.

Your opinions are welcome.

World is so crazy.
As the person was nowhere near I can't see where the issue is.
Your point is valid - why is it in a male ward.

It's simple really, lots of cash generated
for the investors.

Whilst I am 100% on your side, you have to smile and nod at most things that are around us these days, you may well end up having to apologize and have some sort of diversity training. I sure as hell would not be able to put up with this sort of bollox but I guess for you it pays the rent.

I am so pleased I never had to deal with weirdos like that, I wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut. I find this world today is changing away from normality at an unreal pace and I find a great deal of it very distasteful.

Best advice I can give you is:

When I'm in work I can sometimes meet things "head on" and speak up.

Best advice I get from colleagues sometimes is

"come in, do the minimum to keep them off you're back, take the money and go home"

While it sometimes rankles, as long as I need to work it's good advice.

“It”?
Yes, 'it'. If it's not a male or female then by definition the body is an 'it'. Referring to these non-binary twats as 'they' is utter horseshit. 'They' refers to plural, which is grammatically incorrect. No gender, you're an 'it'.

Fact.

Now sod off and stop writing horseshit just to get clicks, you woke pansy.

My opinion is to accept any form of ‘retraining’ offered and move on.

You won’t win any battles you might want to fight on this subject.

If they 'professional nurses' hadn't screamed at me in front of a contractor
then I would have reacted differently.

That can be construed as assault. If I were you, I'd document everything while it's still fresh in your mind.

Anyhoo, did any of them have big tits then or what?

I may as well role over then.
Isn't this about respecting one's beliefs?
What happened to mine??
