Newby heresh1tehppns I ride a "94" fj1200 at the mo, but hoping to trade the old girl + cash this w/end for a...........
"97" B/BIRD 22,000 miles, colour red and it looks mint.
Anything I should be aware of? Apart from being ripped off!

I also used to ride an FJ12, and a great bike it was..... Until I got my BB (via a CBR1000F). :bow:


Everything that you love about the FJ is found within the BB, only there's more of everything!! :yo: :yo:


Some of the other guys will no doubt be along soon to tell you of anything specific to look out for, but I dont think that the BB actually has any weak points :dunno:



Hope the deal goes through OK, and that you enjoy the 'Bird - they really are as good as you think. :bow:

Hiya mate..
well the price is right ( in fact very right ) but do check the front aint sagged right down ( Bike on side stand.. make a fist and hold upright.. slide between nose cone and top of front mudguard.. anything more than a light touching of each side of your fist and it has sagged..) An easy job to fix ( and upgrade while you are at it,, but it is ?87.00 to do ( longer than standard KTECH springs supplied with shorter spacers to cure the dread Bird pump down )

Do make sure it is charging ok as the reg rec is a bit of an issue,,,

Also slowly build the revs up to 3.5 to 4k and listen for a bag of nails suddenly appearing ! If it does the CCT has gone phut.. again a ten to 15 minute job but another ?43.00 worth..
But other than that all should be ok

Welcome Ogr1, I too have just traded in an old FJ1200 for a 'Bird. You will not be dismayed in your new bike! You may find the 'bars and fairing are quite low but this is easily remedied with a set of risers and a new screen from JAWS (Thank you John for those!:bow: ) I hope to give the 'Bird a thourough test this weekend providing the weather hols out! Not that I'm a fair weather rider but I intend to look after this bike.

I kinda like Purple...sad I know, but can you respray in that colour?
