Hello all.. just Bought the Bird....

I've got a vfr currently .

I'm fighting a decision at the moment...

I've a vtec 02 plate , race cans ect ect.. loads of extras..

But i've seen a mint 2001 blackbird with 14k on the clock, and they are asking for 1700 cash and my bike .

I'll take all the bits of my vfr and sell them obviously hopefully make some money from them to sweeten up swmbo so i will only be spending about 600 quid on change to the Bird...


I know i'll get a few biased opinions... but i'll as anyway.

i'm taking it for a spin tomorrow weather permitting ...

So what should i be expecting , looking out for ? ect ect....

and should i swap at all ?

LOL !! You already KNOW the answer to that question else you would not be looking at the deal

Give it a try.. there is nothing really to look for on a 14000 mile old bike ( it is only JUST run in ) ..

Oh, one thing..
Do make sure the tyres are the correct ones for the bike.. If 020's are fitted be sure they are the L type and W type.. if Avons fitted they should have a big B on them in the middle of a big empty space !

If Dunplops insist on them being replaced .. if anything else.. wellllll,,,, Some folk like and some dont the various options on offer....

and cheers jaws.... your risers might be swapped over to the bird if i go for it...

But i've promised the other half that i wont be putting any extra's on the bike for a long time..so no cans ect... but i dont think i'll need anything on it apart from the autocom and satnav.

Would you get more money for yours in standard condition with the extra bits sold on ebay? (like you can for a 'Bird)

well all done.

Took it for a spin this morning...to quote peperami...its a bit of an animal.

Over taking anything was a peice of cake , no winding up and changing ... it just took it in its stride..

I was suprised at how nimble it is for a large bike , i wasnt expecting it to handle like it did ... wasnt too far off the vfr.

Its a lot more of a sporty position , as i expected. I may have to put the risers sometime if it gets to wristy on long trips.

the only thing i'd change is the colour.... but i'm getting to like the red....

It does need a decent screen on it...... i have an MRA on the vfr... any other suggestions for one for the bird ?


i wont post any pics of it as i'm sure you all know what it looks like. lol

yep i know jaws , the friendly chap fitted some risers on my vfr.... i'm sure they will be swapped to the blackbird at some point..

lol@ianrob..... your not wrong.. but i did warn her i might need a screen

just what colour screen is the question...

here's a couple of my bird with the "old" MRA screen on, it has the "vario" screen on now, and seems to be ok!! mind I've only ridden it for about 300 miles or so, so unsure at the moment!! :dunno:

the only thing i'd change is the colour.... but i'm getting to like the red....

Red? Surely you mean gay pink???

Pukka choice of bike GForce, if you want a colour change then call me and I'll sort you out with a proper paint job at a proper price!

But, ride it for a while first and get used to it, you'll not be disappointed in a brilliant choice of bike. Have fun mate,
